It's the soul that goes to Heaven (if eligible). See, for example, Revelation 6:9.
Peace.

Both go to be with the LORD if we have trusted in Jesus Christ. The spirit is the deepest part inside of us--the part where the Spirit of God reaches us, teaches us, and convicts us of sin. It can be corrupted by the flesh and led astray. The soul is the very essence of us--who we are--our personality, our individuality. Soul and spirit are very closely related--We are told the Bible can pierce even between these two--it mentions that as a difficult thing to do.
We also go to heaven with a body--a new glorified body--but still recognizable as us and as individuals.

The soul is made up of the spirit and the body. Together they are the soul. The spirit is the force that maintain the life of the body, but it also contains all of our intelligence, memories, and the basic core of who we are. The body gives us physical form and gives us additional senses and feelings that spirits do not have alone.
When we die our spirit separates from the body but continues to live on however, that is not the end. Jesus Christ open the door of resurrection and gave that to all of us as a free gift. We will all, one day, be resurrected and our bodies will be made perfect, no longer capable of disease, corruption, or even death.
Only after this resurrection, will we go to our final judgment and then live with God if we have lived a life of faith in Jesus Christ. And we demonstrate in our faith in Christ through good acts of love towards our fellow man and living our lives according to the teachings of Christ and all of His prophets throughout time.

The soul is created by God and Never Dies. The spirit is the you inside you as in you are nice or mean. You like rodeo or nascar and so on. I have a Christmas spirit and a beggars body but God owns the soul.

It was my understanding growing up, in a Christian atmosphere, that they were one in the same. The spirit is what drives the soul and powers it. If that makes sense. It's like a car, your soul is the body of the car and the spirit is the engine....without the engine, the car could not drive. Hope that helps.

Emphasis is inaccurate. you're putting greater emphasis on the 'physique' or 'vessel' than on the spirit. The spirit is lots greater important. The soul and the spirit in a human are a similar element. In heaven, our spirit could be comparable to God's, in His "image" and unfastened. despite the fact that there's no longer likely any variety of containment, because God's Spirit is countless.

the soul includes the body (genesis 2:7), but you don't go anywhere when you die until the resurrection. Ecclesiastes 9:5 says the dead know not any thing. In the parable of the lazarus and the richman, the richman was resurrected and still didn't believe.
Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Read the story of the rich man and Lazarus in the book of Matthew. This should answer your question.

God s Word {Sword (Eph 6:17)} can divide soul and spirit (Heb 4:12). Trusting CHRIST + His BLOOD = saved to go to heaven! At death, soul and spirit (immaterial) depart (are absent from the body {material goes to dust}), and "are present with The LORD!!" (2 Cor 5:8) Most of the saved have "a desire to depart, and to be with CHRIST {our Precious SAVIOUR}; which is far better!!!" (Php 1:23)
