Try this (in Media Player):
Go to: Tools > Options > Performance > Advanced
There, where it says "Video Acceleration", at "Use video mixing renderer", UNcheck "Use overlays".

This worked for me in WMP11, but other players should have similar properties.
Hope this helps

If you are using Windows XP, then go to Microsoft's web site to get the latest version. Windows media is part of Windows and cannot be uninstalled to get a fresh copy of Windows Media Player go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx. This should fix your problem. Windows Media Player plays most music and video files including DVDs. I use it all of the time with little or no problems.

Go to Microsoft.com downloads and load the codecs pack for it. If its a Divx file load the divX player, it comes with the codecs for Windows media player. If that fails load a DVD playing program(Whether you have a DVD player or not) It will provide most of the codecs on the market to play any file with the exception of MPEG4 which is Quicktime.

Media plyer will not be able to play a video file if the proper codecs are not present. Download the latest codec pack. Before you play the video file make sure you have the right codecs for the video. To determine what codec a file is using download gspot:

This could be a memory issue or that your video card can't handle the pics, or that your video card isn't functioning even though the sound card is. Get it checked out. Try the links first though.

It is possible that you do not have the correct codec to decode the video stream. Try downloading the tsunami codec pack and installing it. Just take all of the defaults during the installation.

Make sure that the files that you are trying to run are within the parameters of WMP. Check under tolls/options/file types and match that with the files that you are trying to view.
