I would say first take a look at your birthday. Since every year, our new year in on a different day. For the year 2007, the new year is on February 18 I think. For an example, I have a friend who is born in 1992, which is supposed to be the year of the monkey, but she is born in January, so it would make her a sheep. I was also born in the 1992, but in April, so I would be a Monkey. It all depends on the year, the date and the day of the Chinese New Year it is in. New year is usually at the end of January or early February, so you might want to check that too. But if you're born in March till December, 1979, then you're definitely sheep.

I'll take it a step further...The lunar calendar has a sixty year cycle. In the Chinese horoscope, the five basic elements of Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth, which make up all matter, are combined with the twelve animal signs of Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Lamb, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig to form the sixty year cycle. One's Chinese horoscope is based on which lunar year in this sixty year cycle one was born.

There's a new batch of Monkeys every 12 years, but there are only so many Earth Monkeys around, like me. Check out the link...So, what are you?

it seems like you could go to a Chinese resturant -- every Chinese resturant seems to have place mat with the Chinese astrological figures on it and how to figure out your sign while you wait for your dinner. I only know a few important years for me... like 1976 is the year of the dragon. The in 12 more years it's the year of the dragon again: 1988, 2000 and again in 2012.

Go to your favorite Chinese restaurant and read the place mat...
or go to one of the websites listed above, if you don't want to have as much fun.
