As did I.
There are worse things than stigmata. Read any "Lives of the Saints" and it's amazing the sick things they went in for, and the Church is not at all shy about pointing it out.
A really great read is "Saints Preserve Us" by Sean Kelly. Amazing, true, and above all FUNNY!

Sorry, I have not heard about that. My concern is that you have opted out. By that do you mean from the Catholic Church or from Christ. You should not let the dogma of the Church cause you to leave Christ. He is your Savior and gave His life for you. He is a beautiful Savior and will never disappoint you. Seek another Church but I hope you reconsider, if you left Jesus, to come back home to Him. God Bless and may you always know the truth.

You are right. The stigmata is a horrible thing to have. Those who get it never asked for it. Then why does it happen? No one knows. Some who have it consider it an honor to be able to experience what Christ did. All us us have suffering in life. The suffering can make or break us. When we give our suffering to God it becomes on a different level of living. It is the ultimate gift to God and we can use it as a prayer for others.

I certainly is not scriptural - and I can tell you I don't get it.
I was a Catholic too and it wasn't until years after I started going to a Protestant church that I realized that so much if what they do is based on the church, not on the Bible or God. These people did good things and are good examples but no need to make them like NBA superstars, it's not like that.
Saints, confession, prayer to others than the Trinity - kind of like the Pharisees but I know many wonderful Catholics whom I believe are going to heaven and that's great - but it's not for you and me apparently.

the human mind is an amazing thing. sometimes people who have focused much on the messy death of Jesus will manifest those wounds on themselves. interesting fact is that those stigmatists who have focused on the old style cross image will manifest wounds on hands and feet while the stigmatists who have focused on the more accurate style cross will manifest the wounds on wrists and ankles.
PS. to all those Christians damning the Catholic Church. news for you folks ... were it not for the aggressive conversion tactics of the Catholic Church it's highly likely you all would be hell bound heathens right now. the Catholic Church is the mother of ALL Christian sects.

Yes, it is disgusting.
Anytime we put humans in the place where God (and only God) belongs, it is detestable to God, and should be to us as well.
The whole idea of sainthood is ridiculous.
Where does God's Word tell us that "certain people" will be chosen and given omniscience, to hear the prayers of MILLIONS all at once? And do what else? Strut around like the Pope, like they're somebody more special than anyone else?
What do they do with millions of prayers coming in simultaneously, all day long, every day, NONSTOP? They run over to Jesus, or God to RELAY the messages? How many times a day would they do that?
With prayers coming in from all over the world, and with different time zones, wouldn't it be more (ridiculously) imaginiable for hundreds of saints to be circled around God or Jesus, telling them the prayers of other humans? It would be millions of times more chaotic than the floor of a stock exchange. Like 1000 people all talking to one person at once?
That sounds like chaos to me. And why would God need such employees? As if He is not willing or capable of intercepting the prayers of His children without the help of humans (who are NOT omniscient, btw)

if you are no longer of that faith, why would you feel a need to think about what they are doing, who they make a new saint, etc,,,,,,,,,it sounds like you have left-over issues with the Catholic Church, i personally dont think stigmata is disgusting, as i dont follow it and thus have no reason to make a decision about it

No, I think the Stigmata is both beautiful and a painful cross to bear. And who did they cannonize? I haven't heard anything.
And if you're opting out because of one saint, then you, my friend, have issues.

I don't personally understand the St. Thing, but the people behind the names have done some great/interesting things.
Just ignore it. It shouldn't bother you this much.

Congratulations. The Lord has opened your spiritual eyes and helped you to realize that the Catholic Church is counterfiet. I will pray that you will find a good Bible teaching Christian Church.
God Bless
