I have no specific knowledge of Syracuse university, per se. But, usually when you go to a college that is larger and more recognized you can gain much over small, lesser known schools. Often, larger, more well known companies recruit from schools with great reputations. Also, you are more likely to have better cultural opportunities. (More well known acts perform on campus,. more likely to have a larger international student presence, etc...) Another good reason to attend larger schools is that they tend to have strong alumni support. There would be more opportunities, once you graduate, to reach out to alumni for jobs or networking. Often larger schools have regional alumni clubs in big cities. So, if you move to the other side of the country, you can easily find people and activities related to your school.
Some people prefer smaller schools because they state that they don't want to be another number. I went to Purdue and I never felt like a number. You just need to find where you fit in and join activities that are based on your interests.
Good luck!

Same as any other school, an education, what else are you expecting? Visit the campus, see if you like it.
