I have a DVD recorder/player with harddrive which means I can record from the TV onto this drive but I want to record onto a disc which I can send on

You need a DVD-R or a DVD-RW or a DVD+R or a DVD+RW. depending on the spec of your recorder, it may take all of these, or it may just take one. Check the manual.

I would go with Dvd-R because that one has more compatiblity with more players and older players. Thats if you want to play it on other dvd players

the most common format is -r or -rw. remember to finalize the disc if you want to watch on a different player.

most DVD writers now can accept both DVD+ and DVD- formats
