Not sure about Ritalin, but my son has been on Adderall for 6 years and it still works great. The difference when he takes it and doesn't is day and night. It's so drastic a difference that the teachers can tell the minute he walks into the classroom whether or not he has taken it. Without it, he would never be able to manage school. I hate that he needs it, but he definitely does. ADHD can make life very difficult and cause a lot of frustration and pain. Treating the symptoms can drastically improve the quality of life a person has.

I'm not on Ritalin, but am on FocalinXR (pretty much the same kind of stuff) and I absolutely love it. My grades went from C's and D's up to A's. I think that it does continue to work (I've been on mine for a long time) But if it doesn't work as well, you can always up the dose. Congratulations on finding something that's helping you out!

Anyone who has gone through puberty should not be taking Ritalin, it responds differently in adults and your Doc should have changed your medication.
Generally Ritalin requires a higher dosage as you gain weight and grow and get older, if it doesn't something is wrong.
I think you need to talk to your doctor if you have been on it more than 5 years.

I use ritalin for my exams. and it rocks! you get focused and more concentrated. However, this drug is prescribed for different purposes but I personally love the effect. Rises the consciousness and also relatively, it makes you get tired sooner than usual.
