Absolutely NOT. Felines are obligate carnivores and must get their nutrition from meat sources. Wild cats will die of starvation before they will eat any vegetable matter.

Yes cats can eat veggies...actually cats need some greens in their diet..this is why they eat grass and plants. My Lucy loves her veggies actually...her favorite is broccoli! Of course you can't make a cat a vegetarian..that is not good for them..they need the protien from meat and are generally carnivours by nature..but still need whats in veggies..particularly the vitamins. If you cat likes them..let her eat them. If she doesn't..that's not a problem too..there's vegetable additives in some cat foods to give her those vitamins. Fancy Feast has their Medleys now..and they all have veggies in them...garden greens and Soufflé dinners! My two kitties LOVE the Medleys! Pet Smart has the best prices for this brand actually..much cheaper than the grocery store.

I have read that without taurine (the protein others are referring to) in the diet, that cats will go blind.
I did a search for vegetarian cats and found quite a lot of information on the internet.
The first resource below, by the vegetarian society in the UK is very interesting.
Everything that I found indicates that it can be done, but you have to be very careful about the diet. Additionally, if your cats start having lots of urinary tract infections, that you should go back to meat for their diet.
I have been a vegetarian since 1992 and had looked at this issue before. I won't do this to my 4 cats. Be very careful if you do try this.

Be veggies, as in a vegatative state like a coma? I assume that they could be, but would probably be euthanized.

If you are talking about vegetarian, then no. Cats must have meat sources or they will not get the proper nutrients to be healthy.

NO! cats cannot assimilate vegetable protein, they may enjoy occasional treats of dried fruit, pasta or fruit cake (all of mine loved these) but they need animal protein to live.
I found this very difficult as a veggie myself, but they will not be healthy and will eventually develop very serious problems

Definitely not. Even if they can be vegetarian, I doubt any cat would be happy about it. Humans make their own mind about being vegetarian. Cats do not know the concept and will always go for meat and fish, it's in their nature. If you are vegetarian, surely you would not want anybody to make you eat meat and vice-versa.

Besides going vegetarian means that they would lack of certain nutrients and die very young.

No definitely not cats are carnivores and if you starved them of meat they would have severe health problems. If you tried to make them veggie they would just go our and kill mice and birds.

They will not survive as vegitarians. They MUST have animal protein.

You can suppliment a healthy diet with a fair quantity of veggies, but you can't get rid of the meat w/o killing your kitty.

No. Dogs can, but not cats. They need a certain protein that can only be found by eating meat.
