If he or she is showing interest in the potty now, you need to be getting them out of the diapers. You may need to use night diapers for a while or even pullups which are popular these days, but some children, once they know what the potty is for, prefer to use it rather than wear a diaper ++ JENNY

when the child is potty trained. The average is 2 years old, but boys potty train later than girls. My oldest boy potty trained 1 month before he turned 3, my second boy potty trained about 2 and a half, my third boy is 18 months and not showing a bit of interest. I waited until they were ready and both only took 3 days before we were pretty much accident free. I see no reason to put myself nor the child through the stress of potty training from exactly the second birthday if the child is not ready. Being a new mom, with my first I was concerned and the doctor said if he was ready to go to school and not trained then we should worry. One of my friends was introducing her little girl to the potty from the day she turned two, the little girl is past three, not nearly trained and they have had a year and a half of headaches and accidents, major discouragment for the child. You have to make the effort though. Take the child every 2 hours to the toilet, make sure he/she goes before going shopping or on little trips, and before bed. It is much more your work than theirs. Good luck

I'm not sure, but my little 2yr old sister is using her potty now. She sometimes wears an underwear, but not always because she has accidents about not reaching the potty on time or about peeing on the bed at night. I suggest you keep the diaper on a little bit longer untill the child feels that they can go and use the potty at night. If the child hasn't been trained to use the potty, I think you should start right now because most children start potty training at the age of two.

I dont know that there is a proper time.....kids are all different and develop differently both physically and emotionally. Id say though in general if your child knows they are wet or dirty its time to agressively start training......be prepared for setbacks and for the possibility your child isnt ready especially at nite. My son was 4 before he was day trained and 7 before he was nite time trained.

At two. Use pullups. If your child is a girl then let them in the bathroom when the mom is using it so they know and visa versa for a boy. Good luck and happy holidays!

Every child is different. If your child is showing any interest in potty training, start now. Ideally, he/she should have been trained already.

now would be the time to start. if you are there with your child all day that is even better. that will give you even more time to deal with potty training
