I'm a little worried about Romeo, my cat. When I got up this morning, he
wasn't crying for his breakfast, and didn't seem interested in
playing. He still ate, and used the litter box, and was interested in
my breakfast, and was underfoot while I made my lunch, but other than
that just seemed to want to sit. Usually he's a little ball of energy!

However, the past 4 days I've been off because of the holiday, and I've
been getting up later - sometimes as much as 3 hours after I normally
do. I'm wondering because I got up at my normal early time today if I
just caught him mid-night cycle and if he's changed his routine because
I changed mine over the weekend? Or do you think he could be sick?
(Please don't say that....) He was his normal ball of energy last
night, tearing all over the house and into everything.

Your routine changed and so did his. He's probably just tired. If you have been home all day with him, going to bed late, getting up late, it has just thrown him off. As long as he's stilling eating and using his litter box, he's okay. I bet he'll be a ball of energy tonight. Hope this helps.

Change of sleeping times can do that to a cat. Or a simple cold now in winter, or just being tired one day. If you see things getting worse, like stopping food, or not peeing, or not playing at all, in the next few days, then you should start worrying. But for the moment just watch him and I think he'll be fine!

It seems like your cat is maturing. Think about it- How old is your cat? If he's a year or older, he must be maturing. Even before that age he could be maturing. This has happened to my cat. It's just like when a teenager becomes an adult. They are more polite, dress nicer, don't whine as much, etc.
Hope that helps!
Good luck!
God bless!

Dont listen to recon.

Your probably right in saying that because you've changed your routine, hes getting confused. Try and make things as back to normal as possible and im sure he'll start acting normal as well.

Don't worry. Your first thought was probably right. He probably got used to getting his meals later and realized that you had been sleeping later. Any animal can adjust and will adjust with their owners.

Is the cat pregnant? Check to see if there are any injuries to the cat, caused by ther cats, if you let him/her out at night. Cats fight too. Have you changed his/her diet lately.
