RASPBERRY CHAMPAGNE PUNCH
(makes about 3 quarts)

2 (10-ounce) packages frozen red raspberries
in syrup, thawed
1/3 cup Real Lemon - Lemon Juice from concentrate
1/2 cup sugar
1 (750mL) bottle Rose wine, chilled (Gallo is good)
1 quart Raspberry Sherbet
1 (750mL) bottle Asi Spumante or champagne, chilled
In blender container, puree raspberries. In large punch bowl, combine pureed raspberries, Real Lemon Juice, sugar and wine; stir until sugar dissolves. Just before serving, scoop sherbet into punch bowl; add Asti Spumante. Stir gently. Serve.

NOTE: I also add 3/4 quart of Club Soda to this recipe.

I have not held a New Year's Eve party but I have been to a few. Mixed drinks are not my kind of beverage. I prefer beer. I like Heineken the best. I have found it much more fun to go no further than getting buzzed. That way you can have fun without getting sick and you can watch the drunks make fools of themselves. When ever I party I drink one Heineken and then an O'Douls non alcoholic beer. I keep switching back and forth so I don't go past getting buzzed and I still get to enjoy the taste of a beer. Also ... I have found out that it's a great big no-no to drink beer and mixed drinks. At least it is for me. Whenever I do that I spend more time praying at the porcelain throne than I do at the party. 8~)

12 years ago was the biggest NYE party I ever did. Champagne for me, and beer. The keg was on the porch. Had about 40 people over. I made a list on a legal pad for everyone to write down NY resolutions. It was hilarious. I also served chili and tater tot casserole for the munchie food.

But the most memorable was just me and my neighbor 2 years ago. We were both alone, we drank 2 bottles of champagne together, and she locked herself out of her apartment, didn't want to wake her husband, so she crawled over a large fence to get in her back door.

The resolution thing is good though. I framed it with all the pics taken from that night. So funny.

My two favorites for parties (not just new years) is purple cows and Jello shooters....

For purple cows, you take grape and lemonade koolaid, 2 quarts of water, and add about 1 1/2 cups of sugar, and mix that in the pitcher. I usually add vodka directly to the cup and pour the koolaid into it. Just add vodka to taste. Usually about a fourth of the cup or less, depending upon how much you like the taste of Vodka. The grape and lemonade mix mask the vodka decently, if you can believe it. As long as it's cold, so you may need ice.

You can't have a decent party without shooters! It's great with a game of cards, (winner gets the shot!) or at midnight slirp a shot! What's halarious is when it starts to get warm, it gets runny, and watching people desprit enough to slirp it off the table or out of the dish! (That's usually me.... lmao!!!) I think Cherry is the best flavor for shooters. If you want them reeeeeeally strong, replace the vodka for shooters with everclear..... Everclear shooters will knock you on your tail!!!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!!!!!! PARTY HARD, but not STUPID!!!!

;o)

Champagne is the traditional New Year's drink.

Today, the New York Times has a review of a champage-like beer called Krait Prestige Champagne Lager from Belgium.

make a wop. Buy a watermelon, cut it in half. Scoop out the fruit, cut it into chunks. Add the chunks into the now empty half of the watermelon. Cut up some other fruit and add it too, as well as some Hawaiian punch or Juicy Juice. Now, add the following...

1/2 liter of Vodka (Karkov or cheaper is fine)
1/2 liter of rum (vanilla or watermelon flavored is good)
and a bit of everclear.

The fruit will absorb the alcohol, and the liquid will end up in the bottom of the watermelon. As the fruit is eaten, pour small glasses of the liquid concoction. Delicious! And belive me, you will be drunk.

I prefer either a long island iced tea or a southern comfort punch---I usually have about 15 people over ---we drink and socialize and bring in the New Year together.
