No...do you...or are you...disabled ???

I, myself, was a Long-Term Single Parent to TWO children with disabilities (one has Asperger's Syndrome, a high function Autism Spectrum Disorder -- the other has Severe ADHD and both had other disabilities), and in the entire time I was raising them ALONE (WithOUT any help whatsoever -- it was MY INCOME that provided all their needs (because my ex-spouse did abuse them/was convicted of that abuse AND was a deadbeat dad) ...

I was confronted (on a regular basis) by people who would much rather NOT see anyone with any disability -- whether it was a wheelchair, a walker, canes or crutches, or just Autistics or any disability -- and ..

It is SO SAD that one does not want to know the JOY of these special people ... for they are challenging to raise, give you a whole new perspective on life, and are (for the most part) very happy children in loving homes ...

I KNOW that my own Autistic Child did provide quite a bit of education to those who taught the child throughout the school years -- and just because someone has one disability does NOT mean that they are NOT gifted in another area (for both children turned out to be highly gifted as well) ... inventive, creative, always wanting to try things all the time ... and their instructors would be flabberghasted when they came up with very brilliant solutions to problems that their peers could NOT solve!

No I don't. Weird sort of question. Anyone with a grain of intelligence knows disabled people have no control over how they are. I'm sure they'd rather be healthy. Only a sicko would use the word "gross" to describe the disabled

NO! Disabled people have some of the biggest hearts ever! If you would stop to talk to them, you may find out that they can warm your heart and open your mind! I have a son that is 100% disabled. Most of my friends when first meeting him were a bit put back by him, until they spent 5 minutes around him. They always walk away feeling enlightened by his spirit, not feeling sorry for his disability.

what! thats the like, the rudest comment ever! its not their fault that theyre disabled! there was this one disabled girl , and she learned how to play the flute reeally well, and now shes married and has 2 NORMAL kids! how would you like it if you got in a accident, had to be in a wheelchair , and everyone said u were a turn-off?

No, do you? Put yourself in their place. Think about how you would feel if a non-disabled person thought that about you.

They can't help their disablilty. But you could possibly adjust your attitude.

When I was a child and didn't know better, perhaps, but I'm an adult and I've worked with handicapped people and they are more human than some whole people I know.
