I, a few years ago coneverted to buddhism. I live in a primarly Christian area so I rarely ever get to meet another buddhist just on the streets, so I have some questions for all of you guys. To all that you have converted to Buddhism from another religion Ihave another question a little more in detail:
What religion did you convert from?
Why did you convert?
Do you know any one that converted because you did?
Have you noticed any changes in your life?

Please don't try to convert me to Islam or Christianty. I am extremely happy in buddhism, so please don't try to convert me to another religion.

And smiling forever, I would not convert to islam (No offense) because I have read parts of the Qur'an and it totally contridicts my beliefs. Also I am quite invovled in Evolutionary Science so I won't be converting very soon.

I am in the process of beginning to follow Buddhism. I am doing so because it fits almost exactly what I believe in general. I don't know any other Buddhists. It has made me calmer.

I don't think I ever "converted".
I realize that life is NOT about knowing or trying to understand the unseen divine, or following moral guidelines. Buddhism, for me, is just about being my normal self and not about trying to be anything special (including Buddhist).
To me, converting to Buddhism is the same as graduating from all my perceived ideas about everything (including Buddhism). There is really nothing to convert to. Or at the very most it's about , converting to nothing in particular.
I hope I made some sense. Thanks for asking.

I am a Buddhist, but I do not feel that I converted, or changed from one religion to another. I was raised Roman Catholic, but find more revelation in Buddhist thought. Buddhism has helped me to be more universal.

Converted from Catholicism here after exploring a ton of other religions to Wicca then to Buddhism.
None of the other religions (short of paganism/Wicca and Hinduism) were making much sense to me. Too many schisms within their religions, disagreements on doctrine, too many illogical claims, especially within Christianity and Catholicism, and so on.
Quite a few people have converted based on seeing how happy and content I've become.
LOTS of changes in my life. The Dharma is so logical and such a blueprint for reality that it's easy to understand HOW to behave ethically instead of just being told to do this or not to do that. I'm less angry in life, more pro-active in various ecological and human issues, became vegetarian working towards vegan, and so on.

I practise Zen almost every day but did not convert because Buddhism did not answer my spiritual questions.
If Buddhism answers your spiritual questions; goo for you!
