6 is still pretty young. I think it's ok for her to still believe. I'd say around 8 or 9 you'll probably want to tell her the truth. There's nothing wrong with believing. You can still believe in Santa and know the religious reason for the holiday as well. I don't believe it has to be one or the other.

I realized Santa wasn't real when I was about 3 or 4. My mom just took me to see Santa at the mall and I asked her how Santa could be at all the malls at once. She said it was because all those mall Santas were Santa's helpers. That's when I realized Santa wasn't real. I still believed a little bit until I was about 9 or so. But not so much in Santa, just in the idea of him.

This is the first year my son did not believe and he is 9. I suspect he had big doubts last year but we milked it for one more year. ENJOY age 5 - 7 was the best and he was VERY cute.

He found out from his friends and once in school full time the clock is ticking.

The only thing I regret is he is a little bitter about the whole thing and is now. I am sure it will swing back, but this year he was vocal when any adult asked him what he wanted from Santa.

I have a 6 and 4 year old and they treat Santa like a cartoon. We have never told them santa was real , but the TV tries to convince them he is. So we first told them the real meaning of christmas, the birth of Jesus, that it why they get gifts to celebrate his birth like the wise men did. Then we tell them that Santa was real but his name was St, Nicholis, and he gave poor children gifts, he also believed in Christ and was doing his work on earth by giving gifts to the poor and thats how the person of Santa Claus was made. Jesus is the real reason for christmas and Santa is a symbol of A MAN of GOD doing Jesus's work on earth.

i believed until i was 11. wen my mom told me i was fine. i hate when people try to say that they hated being lied to etc. its just fun for christmas and doesnt hurt anyone!!! if u explain to your child at the appropriate age why santa is not real and why you made him up, they will be fine about it!!! kids dont think that much about the being lied to issue at this age!

They should also know about the real reason of Christmas!!!!

I felt like such a huge idiot when I learned Santa was someone my parents made up to make holidays more cute. I hated being lied to.

We never did santa with any of my siblings.

I think its cruel and disgusting.

i think it is great that she still believes,But i think you shoud tell her the true story of how he came to be.
he was a real nice man and although he did not travel around the world,he gave gifts to kids who did not have much.i do not remember all of the story but that gives you an idea.you have to be careful not to make her think that you have lied to her.most 8 year old kids stop believing so i wouldn't wait to long.good luck and GOD BLESS.
