When my house got broken into we were in shock. As we were about to call the police, we were lucky enough to spot a police car parked on the side of the curb. So we parked on the curb near the officer and asked him for help. When we stepped out of car we noticed something quite bizzare. The drivers side door was wide open and the officer was playing Tetris on his cell phone while eating donuts.

A cops office is his patrol vehicle. Everyone takes a break in their office, so a cop taking a break in his car is completely normal. In fact taking his break on the open street is very good, it allows criminals to see him there and deter their activity. If he was hiding in a dark parking lot asleep that would be a different story.

I'm surprised you got close enough to see that he was playing Tetris...Shame on him if you did...
But...we do take breaks sometimes....what time of day/night was it??? And I try not to eat donuts, cuz of the stereotypical image...but you can usualy find cops playing solitaire on their MDT's(the laptops for ley people) all the time, especially during an overnight shift.

Why don't you try to go out there every day, work those messed up hours, see the things we see, and deal with the people we have to deal with. All the attitude, all the time. A job where everybody hates you and talks sh#t all the time!!! And keep up that ultra proffesional attitude and image during your whole shift. Its okay for office people to sit on the internet, AIM, Myspace, or whatever, and take your coffe breaks, and luch breaks without anyone looking At you and saying, oh...you lazy accountant, or wow, look at that secratary, she's eating Dunkin's...such a double standard!!!

Maybe you just had an isolated experience.

I have the utmost respect for police officers. They have a very tough job, and I certainly would not want to do it.

Police officers put their lives on the line every day. As with any line of work, you have good people and not so good people. But I truly believe cops work hard and deserve respect.

What's the difference between a cop goofing off at work playing Tetris, and you goofing off at work bashing cops on Yahoo?

Police are no different than any other segment of the community. We have go-getters and dogs and everything in between. The only difference is we are more in the public eye, and everything is magnified.

I don't think they are lazy, they just need to get their priories right.
I hate to see cops riding the subway here in los angeles checking people for tickets. It takes thousands of dollars to train one and they are highly paid. I have notice recently they are using security people for this.

LOL!!!!, Ha-ha-ha-ha.....

That's funny. Similar thing happened to us five years ago when our garage got broken into.

Our local police sent an old cop to take down our report. I held the guy's cup of coffee while my girlfriend held his two donuts so he could write on his clipboard.

That made me laugh! :)

Exactly. It's just like you drinking coffee in your office, except our office has four wheels, a cool paintjob and a light bar. We need to relax to and thats how we do it. Otherwise we'd all be uptight assholes all the time.
