We're doing our wedding for under $3000, but about $1600 of that is just to rent the cabin which will be used for the ceremony, reception, and the 8-day honeymoon. It's a small destination wedding with 20-25 people. Staying in that budget took alot of energy and research though. We're doing most things ourselves to cut costs.

It all depends on how many guests you intend to invite, and what sort of place you want for the reception. A small church wedding (about 20 guests) with a hotel reception will cost you in excess of £2000. Bear in mind there's all the clothes, flowers, etc. There's no set price, just stick to your budget, and have a lovely day! My wedding was 26/7/05 and my husband and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary of being together on New Years Eve, Good Luck to both of you! lol

My wedding cost just under £2000.
I had a church wedding and a 3 course sit-down meal for 40 people at a hotel.
The most expensive thing was the photographer which cost £800.
You can make it as cheap or as expensive as you want - and well done on being organised and starting saving!!

Hi there.
Depending upon what you read, the average cost in the UK varies anywhere between £15,000 and £17,500 - so I guess overall you could say overall average is £16,250.
You may want to check out somewhere like Weddingsday.co.uk for a full break-down of costs - it is also a really good place to start planning your wedding and is full of useful ideas and info.
Hope this helps.

I spent $28,000 on mine. It was on long island in a small but nice catering hall, we had about 140 guests on a Saturday afternoon. Save as much as you can, the worst part was that the catering hall ($11,500), flowers ($1,200), photographer ($3,500) and limos ONLY accept cash, so make sure you look into that carefully. I'd recommend having a very small low budget wedding and saving your chunk of change for a nice house. Good luck and congrats!

Our wedding cost approx £50 !!! it was conducted in the mayors office in a small village in France for free, we then went to a couple of local bars with a few Friends then home with pizzas for a good piss up!!! a good time was had by all. So my advice would be save your money and put it towards your future.
A Friend of mine spent 20 thousand pounds on their "big' day, they divorced 9 months later.

A small wedding costs around 1000. As long as there is no big ceremony. We got married at a beautiful little church next to the library (where I go almost every day) and then my dad took us out to dinner. Everyone who went, paid for their own meal. My husbands parents paid for us to have a hotel room in beautiful south west michigan and we stayed the weekend. We are currently saving money to go to ireland in may.
A large wedding can cost anywhere from 5000+
It really truly depends on ammt of guests and if you have an open bar. An open bar on avg costs about $2500.
Good luck to you both, and CONGRATS!

www.abcustom.com has budget planning worksheets that include how to allocate that budget. The U.S. average is $20,000, but you can have a nice wedding for under $5000 or sometimes even less. That average doesn't account for different parts of the country. I would expect a wedding to cost must less in say Oklahoma, then New York.

Mine was about $2000. Got married at my parents house, had reception there also. My biggest costs were my dress, tux rentals and the cake. Borrowed alot of items and decorated myself. The rehearsal dinner was pot luck the night before. Everyone brought a dish to share. You don't have to spend alot. Don't go into debt on a wedding. I have been to wedding where the couple spent $20,000 and they divorced 2 years later. Save yourself the trouble.
