Personally I think it is arrogant and ignorant, attack the post not the poster.

What's the problem with just being nice? We should be able to use this media without being hateful.

The questions are "put out there" for a response. If the person asking a question misspells a word or the posters disagrees and/or misspells something does the world end? If the person that asked the question doesn't like a response ignore it, move on, life is short.

And for the person responding why not be supportive and try to guide in a positive manner. How about, did you mean ?!>!?. If you meant !?<>!? then I would respond this way. If you meant ?!>
If dealing with everyday folks causes you such aggravation find another source to add your two-cents.

Play nice!!!

I only go there if I'm arguing with a person who claims to be of superior intelligence, as a method of bringing them down to earth.

When it comes to an issue I simply disagree with, then no, I don't think it's right at all.

That said....

Very poor spelling and grammar lead me to draw conclusions about a person's level of intelligence, and thus, typically render me dubious of any merit in their opinion (when voiced along with the question). So while I wouldn't attack it, it still might affect my reaction to the question.

I think that if the reader of the question cannot understand the question they should simply ignore the question. They don't give us grammar checkers or even spell checkers for asking questions so it becomes difficult for people to be perfect. Most of the people in world don't major in English, and there is a general trend to use improvised terms and what I would call Internet usage. All this combines to let me relax and just answer or ignore.

Sometimes a posting is VERY Difficult to read, thus ...

There are those who will answer that include hints on grammar, typing, spelling in order to try to FIGURE out how to ANSWER the question ... or what the question was in the first place.

If you can't spell, at least use spell checker. If you can't have a little bit of a sentence structure you should be in English class, not posting asinine questions that most intelligent people can't even figure out

No, it's not right to attack the poster.

I personally have LOTS of typos and misspellings due to NAK (nursing at keyboard) and I'm dyslexic, plus sometimes I'm just in a hurry.

Also I don't see yahoo answers as a place to be picky about grammar. It's a casual setting, not a job interview!

Have a great day!

Criticizing someone's use of language is an age-old form of criticizing the person, and an especially frustrating one, because the person feels that they've paid so much attention to the form of the message that they missed the meaning. I don't like it.
