Some people use caffine tablets - No-Doz or the generic version. They give you a slight boost in energy - about the equivalent to a cup of coffee. You don't want to take more than 1 though, and you should probably avoid it if you have heart problems. (Of course if you had heart problems you wouldn't be doing a long run.)

Stamina is a matter of energy, and you get energy from food. Eating some slow burning carbohydrates about an hour before the run would be good to. Brown rice with black beans or something like that. You don't want anything too heavy on your stomach at the time of the run though.

If you are not used to long runs, then it might be something that you will want to work up to. Run every day and increase the length of the run by a few minutes per day. Stamina is something that you have to build up through exercise - just like anything else.

Forget the pills. You need to concentrate on a decent diet and conditioning. Also, if you have unusual fatigue symptoms, check with a doctor to make sure you don't have a medical problem. I had a terrible time doing my running, and it turned out I was very hypothyroid.

have a banana or summin light jus before the run, and keep your blood sugar levels up by having sips of an energy drink as you go.. stamina will increase the more you get used to running said distances but dont overdo it, build up to it.

I'm not a runner but your question caught my eye because it seems like taking anything to enhance your performance other than the usual things that are natural like food with carbohydrates would be not allowed. Am I wrong?
