why should a 16 year old have a car or a drivers licence? why should a 16 year old be aloud to date the opposite sex? why should a 16 year old be aloud to have a skate board or a motorcycle. If your 16 yo wants a bb gun then let him or her and work with them on safety and practice and shooting skills. You dont have to kill to have fun with firearms. target shooting is a blast! Let him or her develop their own opinion about firearms. Its called getting involved in something you can do together. Your `16 year old will be 18 soon and voting Let him or her make their own decisions with your guidance and supervision. dont just turn um loose with a firearm. BB and Pellet guns are great safety teaching tools. If more kids were taught these skills we would have less firearm accidents. Case in point most F/A accidents are not accidents.

Well, I'm a guy that shot my first .22 rifle at 5 and by 12 had my own .22 plus a shotgun plus a Benjamin Pump pefllet gun for practicing at home in the 'burbs.

So my answer is a question:

Why SHOULDN'T a 16-year-old have a bb or pellet gun?

Of course, I grew up in a time when you asked for permission before turing on the TV or radio and the answer was often "no", you said grace before meals, went to church every Sunday, all adults were addressed as "Ma'am" and "Sir", you went to bed at 9PM, you got up at 6 and did chores before school, came home and did more chores and you mowed the old lady's grass next door for free because it was the "neighborly" thing to do.

If you are that kind of kid and make good grades in school and understand that you can kill things with your gun and that the police can kill YOU if you do something stupid with it, they why wouldn't you be allowed to have one?

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature,
are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind.
Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walk."

In my opinion, they shouldn't. It's a bit risky, isn't it? A sophomore or junior owning a gun scares me a bit. Maybe it's only my school, but people of that age are particularly stupid when it comes to common sense.

Yeah, unless you're in the country don't even think about getting one. The only con is him accidentally shooting himself or someone. But it's fun to shoot at targets, espcially if they break when you shoot it.

unless you live in the country do not even think about it. They could hurt somebody and end up suing you.
