What a load of cr@@p! Oops. Sorry I had to say that. Employing the laws of physics:
Nice, long ones pierce the water before leaving the body entirely.
Short ones drop like bombs, and splash.
Medium ones that flop when they drop give the best bum bath.
It is all about Science!

some are long and touch the water b4 it exits your batty hole entirely, so that is why you dont have a jobbie splash.
When your jobbie is short/small and it leavs your batty hole b4 it touches the water, then it will splash your batty.
