In Matthew 27:50 it says And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up his spirit. I don't know if that means if ascended up to heaven or not. But that is a very good question I hope you find your answer

During his 33½ years as a human, Jesus was a living soul, kept alive by the breath of life from God. (Genesis 2:7; Acts 17:25) This spirit goes out from us when we die. For animals, because they have no hope of ever living again, it is said to descend to the ground. For humans with the resurrection hope, it is said to ascend to God who gave it to us to begin with. (Ecclesiastes 3:18-21) At his due time, he will give it to us once again when he restores our life to us.

So, in a literal sense the spirit of any who have died does not exist, and that included Jesus. In the sense that God will restore our life, one can say our spirit or life force is with God, as was the case with Jesus. Jehovah returned Jesus’ spirit to him upon his resurrection.

The bible says that he went to preach to the souls in prison. This has always been interpreted to mean the Bosom of Abraham, where the souls of the righteous waited for the Messiah to come and open the gates to heaven.

The Bible suggests the possibility that he was in the saved compartment of hades known as Abraham's bosom, and that he depopulated it and led a triumphant entry into heaven.
