My little boy is three,we basically had the same problem but then one day i took him into Boots and asked him to pick a sippy cup.
I explained that big boys drink out of them and when we got home he put his bottle into the cupboard and asked for his new big boy cup!!
I found that by involving him in buying the cup he gave his up easier.
Good luck

At 2 1/2 your child probably has an almost full set of teeth. It is very important that you ween him off of the bottle now. Due to the positioning of the bottle and the constant flow of bacteria from the milk into his mouth he is at a high risk for dental problems later in life...

The simple but hard solution is to take the bottle away from him at night and instead offer him milk through a sippy cup or regular cup. Drink some milk with him to show him that it's what "big kids" do. Start this on a Friday night when you have NOTHING TO DO IN THE MORNING because he will cry and fight. Just stay strong. Once you take it away, do NOT GIVE IT BACK!! :)

I think it's not a prob if you're child wouldn't accept another bottle. The impt. thing is he's drinking a lot of milk that is nourishing to his body. My mom said the last time i had a bottle was when i was 6 years old but i did grew normal. I'm healthy!

my daughter is now 4 and i had the same trouble as you do. she would only take formula milk in her bottle before going to sleep. me and my fiance just kept saying that we had no more milk left and she was very upset but we perceviered and told her she could have a drink of juice before bed. we then would read her a story and lie beside her giving her another comfort either our hand to stroke or a teddy of her choice. we would lie with her until she feel asleep. this took a few weeks but in the end it did work. really we just took one day at a time and tried not to lose the head at her.

hope this has helped
goodluck
