i'm just geussing that your ears were recently pierced like mine and you perhaps read the bottle of the earring sanitizing sollution that says to avoid getting soap, shampoo ect in your ears while letting them close. I pierced my ears today (by myself) so naturally i had alot of questions for my friends with peirced ears. I asked them the exact same question. They mainly said "then don't put shampoo in your ears!" which wasn't exactly what i meant because that was not my exact intention, i meant that i have hair NEAR my ears and that i might accidently get shampoo in my ears, they said it's not the biggest problem as long as you wash it with the cleaning stuff and such, the important thing is that you make sure the shampoo isn't left IN your ears where it will just sit there collecting bacteria.
So yah, i'm also just gonna say don't use hairspray because it says that on the bottle as well, but it seems like it would to more damage than shampoo

Keeping your piercings clean will not hurt them in any way, in fact the infections come from not cleaning the area. Feel free to treat the earrings and the area at any time with alcohol. New pearcings or old clean it with alcohol. Shampoo hair, and rinse should not be any problem, dry hair and use alcohol after if you wish. It will be supper clean.I hope you like your earrings!

I've never heard that..... I wash my hair and use soap on my ears all the time and I have earrings all the way to the top of my ear. If your still cautious then put some plastic wrap around your ears. Yes, I realize that sounds stupid.

I wash my hair with my pierced ears (without the earrings) all the time. I have never once had an infection.

Piercers usually tell you that to prevent you from coming back and trying to blame them for a possible infection. I did everything normal after I got my ears pierced. I made a conscious effort to keep soap and stuff away from my ears, and cleaned them again after I got out of the shower. No problems.

dont worry about it at all. just make sure you completely rinse your hair and then clean your earrings. i've had my ears (along with other things) pieced for over 15 years. my mom never even takes her's out anymore and they've been pierced over 30 years

I sometimes wear my earrings in the shower too.
Other times, I be real careful not to get any shampoo or conditioner near my ears.

You heard wrong. Once the pierced opening has healed within the hole, it is perfectly fine to shower, bathe, swim, etc with pierced ears.

Don't worry! It is extremeley unlikely, and if you are still worried, just use the antiseptic stuff they gave you after you got them peirced to get rid of anything.
Remember, always use antiseptic to keep it clean and be sure to twist your earings!
