Not really-- but sometimes it better to attend than to not go.
My Brother in law died-- I had no choice.
I was able to witness to two at the Funeral!

Roman Catholic and cult are not synonamus! The RCC was the FIRST CHRISTIAN church, the one from which all others have descended! I do not know your 'brand' of Christianity, but if you knew anything about the history of your religion, you would acknowledge that the "true christian" would NEVER consider the founding christian church a 'cult'. Certainly attend a RC funeral if the person is someone you care about...or any other religious funeral, whether or not your small mind considers them a 'cult'! What happened to the idea of acceptance and tolerance that Jesus taught!

It depends. Your cult has probably relaxed the rule that you can't go into a Roman church just as the Roman cult has relaxed their rule that it was a sin to go into a Protestant church. On the other hand, the Roman cult does not allow non-Romans to receive communion, unlike many Protestant cults which invite all baptized persons.
You are probably safe if you sit in the back; stand up, sit down, and kneel when everybody else does; and mumble when everyone else is saying things. Make sure you DO NOT get into saying the Lord's Prayer - it sounds the same to start but the Romans stop before you will be finished and hearing "for the power . . ." in an otherwise silent church is embarrassing, whether or not it's theologically correct.
As far as other cults, it depends on the cult. Some of their practices get Byzantine and it would be best to discuss it with a cult member.

Yes, go to the funeral. You are going to the funeral out of sympathy for the family to show your support. If you don't support the family, then don't go.
Catholicism is NOT a cult. Catholics are Christians.
If you are a "True Christian" you would demonstrate toleration, love and understanding.

Um, Roman Catholics ARE true Christians.
But if you want to know if it's okay for a Protestant to go to a Catholic funeral, the answer is yes.

+ Funerals +
People attend funerals of friends and loved ones to support the friends and family members that were left behind. It would be unchristian to abandon these grieving people in their time of sorrow.
One of the spiritual works of mercy is to comfort the afflicted.
One of the corporal works of mercy is to bury the dead.
+ Catholics and Other Christians +
"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)
Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.
There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.
A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.
With love in Christ.

I see no reason to not go to any funeral as a Christian. It's a sad time in someone's life, and they could probably use the comfort.

Leave the dead to bury the dead.
There is an argument that a "true" Christian should not go to any funerals.

What's a true Christian? Roman Catholics were around long before the bible thumpers were. You can thank Henry the 8th for your church - yeah, the guy who beheaded most of his wives. Do some research!

i can never figure this one out
but to answer your question
does your loyalty and love lie more than the person who has died ... or with silly biased opinions about people of your own faith ?
