Im 15, When i weighed myself it said i was 7 stone 6 pound. I checked my B.M.I with my height of around 5'6 and im around 9 pounds underweight! Recently i havent been well so havent been eating but whenever i eat, i have quite small portions because i cant eat big meals, i eat little and often. This can be a problem if i eat at my friends houses or boyfriend because i feel rude but i cant help it! It may sound stupid but i feel like its just ruining my life!!! Advice..? xx

Some people are just used to eating smaller portions, i was just like this but now I can eat larger meals, just make sure you have all 3 meals during the day and start to eat more. Sometimes for dinner i woild just eat a piece of fruit and be fine the whole night, but then one day i ate this huge bowl of pasta and chicken and that night i felt sooo hungry, but it wasnt actually hunger, it was my body reacting to the inconsistency of my diet. Just try to be more consistent and eat more if you think you need to gain weight

Go and ask your doctor for advice. It's unlikely, but still possible that you have an over active thyroid. This gland produces hormones which regulate metabolism. You may be burning your calories before they can be turned into fat (this isn't as good as it sounds).

There are other symptoms associated with this though, so you need to have a doctor asking the right questions, and / or doing the right blood tests to be sure.

I have met some naturally slim people though who have been perfectly healthy. It may be that you are one of these people, so if you feel fine, then you can go and get checked without fear of nasty surprises.

I suggest you visit your doctor or health centre nurse to discuss this. Your health is too important to risk going by internet advice.
hope you soon improve.
