I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM I CANT UNDERSTAND MY BOOK. CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN IT U KNOW KINDA LIKE GRAPHING FOR DUMBIES, I HAVE LOTS OF TROUBLE WITH THE WHOLE FINDING SLOPS AND STUFF LIKE THAT, I KNOW HOW TO PLOT POINTS BUT THE REST AFTER THAT IS ALL IN GREEK TO ME.

Graphing
You'll need to know the following:
(x, y) this is a order pair
you have a x coordinate & y coordinate

To graph:
you'll need 3 points.
best choose 0 for x and y coordinate.
The third point can be anything you want
Now, there are also 2 special cases of lines:
1) Horizanal line y = # ex. y = 5, then y is always 5
2) Vertical line x = # ex. x = -2 , then x is always -2

Finding a slope of a line:
Let (x1, y1) & (x2, y2) be any 2 points on a nonvertical line. Then the slope m is:
m = y2 - y1
x2 - x1

4 Board Categories of lines:
1) A line with postive slope rises as you go from L to R
2) A line with negative slope falls as you go L to R
3) A line with slope equal to zero is horiztional
4) A line "undefine" slope is vertical

Two non-vertical lines are parallel if and only if thier slope are equal
Two non-vertical lines are perpendicular if only the slope of one is the negative reciprocal of the slope the other

Equations of lines:
point -slope form y - y1 = m (x - x1)
m is slope (x1, y1) is apt. on the line
slope Intercept form: y = mx +b
m is slope, b is the y intercept
