Catching rabbits with snares is illegal and very cruel. The most effective and humane way of catching wild rabbits is with a ferret. One person puts the ferret down a rabbit hole while one or more people stand near other (nearby) holes with a net and a heavy stick. As the ferret goes into the burrow the rabbits go through other tunnels from the warren and as they come out of the tunnel they are caught in the net and then you can despatch them with a single hard thwack to the head with the heavy stick. If you are doing this on your own you should block other possible escape routes and then wait by the hole where you have put the ferret. Hope this helps.

Havahart trap works for me. Of course you won't necessarily get all rabbits. Last time I ended up with a possum in mine, but the way those things are constructed it's easy to release the unwanted visitors.

There used to be a belief that you can easily catch a wild rabbit by sprinkling some salt on his tail.

Go to animal control and borrow some of their humane traps. Then bait the traps with whatever they like to eat and you'll have yourself some rabbits.

depends whether you want them dead or alive. normally you only catch them early morning or in the evening. a drop down trap works best similar to a mouse trap but inside a cage.if you want them alive then don't use the snap over as they on mouse traps. wherever you try catching them get permission from the land owner as its illegal and you could get arrested for poaching. set your traps about 8-10 ft from where you see active holes.

"Catching" wild rabbits.....
Snares and other leg traps are pretty barbaric and likely illegal. Please don't even consider using them unless you are in a pure survival situation.
Rabbit traps will work, but please don't hold these animals too long in a cage, as they are wild creatures. Kill them quickly and humanely to harvest their meat and pelts
