There are many contractions within the Christian Bible because of how it was formed. The HB/OT originated from various oral traditions passed down for generations before it was even written down. There are about 4 different oral traditions that are woven together to create the HB/OT cannon that is known today. This is why there are some contradictions. (This is why there are different amounts of animals brought in the ark and why humans are created twice in Genesis.) Many authors contributed to the Bible, and a lot of redacting occurred over the years. Also, all of the original copies were done by hand, so there could be errors in reproduction. There are also the translation problems from Hebrew, to Greek, to Latin, to many other languages.

Read it again more carefully. Noah was commanded to take more of the CLEAN animals that were used for food and sacrifices in chapter 7 (not all the animals). This was added insurances that those essential species would survive after the flood. You will also see him sacrificing some of them immediately after the flood as a thanks offering to God, which he could not have done had he only taken a single pair of each.
It is a literary device used many times in the scriptures. It will give a quick overview of God's command, and then repeat it with greater detail. Note for example the creation of man in Genesis 1, repeated in greater detail in Genesis 2. You will see the same device used today in newspapers. The first paragraph gives the story in a couple of sentences. Then it is repeated in the rest of the article in greater detail.

I'm just happy he saved the warthog, Mr.& Mrs Mosquito, and the same with the fire ants. Thanks Noah.
PS: try entertaining the notion that the Flood was localized and not world wide. Have you any idea how much H20 it takes to completely cover Mt Everest? Si, mucho agua. And the point that if the waters covered the highest mountains (Mt E.), what are the chances that Noah's Ark settled right close to where he started from? The torrential rains to come down and flood the whole of earth had to be the most powerful event in human history to make the 40-day schedule--and measly Noah's Ark survived that event?! No-no, it was localized flooding.

He took 1 pair of each animal not fit to be brought as a sacrifice. He took 7 pairs of those animals that are so fit. As one of the first acts of Noah after the flood was to build and altar and bring a sacrifice, it would have resulted in the extinction of the species sacrificed if extra pairs were not brought along for the ride.

Look well into Genisis. It says to take 7 pairs of every kind of clean animal and 1 pair of every kind of unclean. When you stop seperating scripture you will have the whole picture.

He took two of the unclean as described in Leviticus and Deuteronomy and 7 of the clean. The extra(+) clean animals were there so that they would have something to eat. Mankind was allowed to eat flesh meat and according to the dietary laws there were some that God determined for man to eat and not to eat. .

Both. There were 2 of every unclean animal and 14 of every clean animal.
Genesis 7:2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.
