Bird can fly because they have hollow bones that allow them to be very light weight. The feathers have allot to do with it also. They are tape-rd all the way down kind of like an airplane wing. When the bird is gliding it moves its wings up or down vertically to allow wind to be directed over the wing to achieve the direction he wants, like flaps on the wing of a plane. But they mostly just don't want to walk.

-The faster the air goes, the less the pressure it gives off.
Bernoulli's Principle:
Bird's wings are shaped so the bottom and flat and the top has a slight curve. The wind above the wing has to go faster than the wind below it. It has to go faster so it can get over the wing at the same time as the air below it. Since the wind below it moves slower than the wind above it, it exerts a greater pressure and pushes the bird up.

Birds bodies have evolved for flight. The wings provide uplift. The structure of their bones are extremely light compared to mammals. Human beings are too heavy, they dont have wings. Even the head is non-areodynamic. In order for us to fly we wouldnt have a chin. Our chest would be structured differently. We wouldnt have hands.

First, their bones are hollow, which means less weight, their very strong and well developed pectoral muscles(breast), their wings and the airfoil form which creates lift, as you see in the design of airplane wings. Then, the smooth surface that feather cover creates. Lastly, the body shape, which offer minimal wind resistance.
