Snow is not a mundane thing, but sports victories are. Elijah prayed for ran an it occurred. God uses weather for judgment and for blessings.

Pray for anything you want. If you get it, you'll believe your prayer was answered. But if you get your snow, and it also causes someone to have an automobile accident because the roads got slippery, how will you feel? Clearly some of the people who prayed that Hurricane Katrina would NOT hit their city had their prayers answered--it didn't hit the coast of Florida, for instance, although it could have. So those people have to live with the idea that they prayed to be spared, and they were---at the expense of New Orleans, Pass Christian, and all those other places.

No, it is not appropriate to pray for sports victories. If you pray that your team will win, you are praying that the other team will lose. Never pray for anything that will hurt anyone else. Instead, why not pray that each member of your team will play to the best of his/her abilities?
It is okay to pray for snow, because that prayer doesn't necessarily hurt anyone. You also might want to say something like, "Please, God, make it snow, but don't let anyone be hurt or injured or get in an accident because of the storm." Just remember that God can't break the laws of the universe that He made Himself, so don't be disappointed if your prayer for snow is unanswered.

OK. I am sure, like most questions here, this one is asked to get someones goat but I am going to give you a serious answer anyway.
Prayer is a means to clear your mind and put the worries and fears you can't control in someone elses hands. If you are making "wishes" to an allmighty God, keep wishing.
Have you ever heard this before..."if you siht in one hand and wish in the other, which one fills up faster".
Meditation is benefitial, just try it and you will understand why.

That would be taking the Lord's name in vain.
Praying for the safety of people in a storm or have the storm redirected is one thing - wanting snow or sports victories is another.

I laugh at the thought of both teams praying for a win. So that means god follows sports?

Nothing like sending a bit of positive energy someway. But Maybe if the victims has prayed for wisdom, they would have had the brains to GET THE HEY OUT OF N'awlins.

You gotta love it when sports figures (such as football players) thank Jesus for helping them catch that pass on the 5 yard line to help lead them to victory. It's amazing that those guys can walk, much less play football, with such big $%#^#'s
