I am currently dateing an older man who will not communicate in- between dates. The only time I do hear from him is when he calls me for a date. The dates we go on are always fantastic and I look forward to seeing him everytime. It's just funny to me that he will not communicate otherwise...I have been to his home as well, he is not married.

This is not a problem. In fact, askmen.com has articles instructing men only to call to set up dates. I employ this strategy myself, and it has served me well.
You said it yourself, "The dates we go on are always fantastic and I look forward to seeing him everytime." So it's working for him! I just hope I didn't cramp his style telling you this.
His not calling to "chat" has two additional benefits. 1) It makes you wonder what he's up to, giving him an air of mystery and 2) it makes you think that he is very busy.

Have you talked with him about this? Have you called him between dates? Do you want more from him than he is willing to give? I would say that he is either busy with other things or other dates and isn't interested in a commitment.

you mean, should you be weary about a man who doesn't call you between dates. well... that depends on what kind of relationship you have. is it your understanding that you are exclusively dating him? perhaps you should clarify that with him. what kind of job does he have? perhaps his work makes it difficult to call you in between dates. if you have a problem with this, then you need to communicate this with him.
