He's just a baby. It's NORMAL for young male dogs to look skinny at that age. Let him mature. When he's 4 or 5 years old, then worry about him being skinny.

I have 2 labs, one weights in at about 100 pounds, he gets 4 cups of food a day. 8 seems like a lot for pup, but if he is active and still growing, it might be ok. What does the does the vet say about his weight, puppies frequently look skinny until they start developing muscle.
Also because Dad was 110 pounds, it does not mean his pup will be 110 pounds. My 100 labs, father weights in at 78 pounds, I know, cause I have him too.
Best advice is talk to your vet.

Just keep feeding him his puppy chow. You do not want to supplement large breed puppies because you don't want them growing too fast - they'll damage their joints. At 8 months, he's in that lanky "teenage" stage, he'll put on weight when he's finished growing - that's when dogs fill out. Labs tend to put on too much weight anyway, so don't worry about him not looking healthy, he'll be fine with a bit of time.

She needed to eat a high quality kitten food beginning her 5th week into pregnancy. Feed her that now for a few weeks and gradually change her to a high quality adult food. Pregnancy and nursing are very stressful on cat's bodies and drain her of energy and nutrients. She also needs to be spayed now. If not, she will become pregnant again soon and she's in no condition for that.

If you get him neutered he will automatically gain weight. I can only suggest that you give him some tinned food too as that is a little higher in calories.
As he gets older he will get fat if you continue to feed him the amount that you are. So be careful.

For most Americans, a dog that looks "too thin" is probably the most healthy weight for the dog. You should be able to feel his ribs pretty easily, although they should not be clearly defined when looking at him.

My husband and I raise black labs and we feed them Comet dog food in the yellow bag. It is very high in protein. Good for their level of energy and great for their coat. Hope this helps.

8 cups of food is way too much...he'll get fat. If you are concerned about his current weight I would take him to the vet!

whoa! lay off the dog food and i think the problem is too much protein hes building too much muscle and not enough fat. but purina dog chow with mothers milk vitamins and fats in to (it will say it on the label) and with every meal give him two pieces of hgh carb bread to boost his fat intake
