Because people are too lazy to cook their own food at home. Either that or they don't know how to.

People are willing to pay those prices for convenience and ease.

I'm sick of reading replies (from men) saying "because people are too lazy to cook".

It just shows how ignorant these people are about REAL life.

Traditionally the man went out and earned, whilst the woman stayed home and cooked, cleaned, ran the house etc.

These days its hard to make ends meet on one wage (unless dad is on a huge salary) so most women have to work too.

So with trying to juggle a 9-5 job, housework, kids, outside activities and everything else how do you think the average woman has TIME to cook??? Or even the energy?

The reason ready made foods are being used more these days is because very few of us still live the idyllic life where we can cycle to the holistic veg shop and buy a load of organic veg and spend a blissful afternoon chopping them up and preparing them. Most of us are run off our feet and exhausted commuting, juggling 9-5's and family and everything else.

Unless society changes in that less money is required to live on and two wages aren't required to run the average household (either people's aspirations need to come down or wages need to go up) then ready made foods will continue to be the way we live.

Those who claim its down to "laziness" need to get real and try walking a day in the average parent's shoes.

I think it's because more people are in a rush to go here, there, and yonder. And few have time to cook. And I've noticed a disturbing number who have never really learned. Thus there is a market for ready-made foods.

The good news is that there is a slight reversal in that trend. Cooking can actually be quite theraputic: There is something about being able to create something good.

i guess it could be either one of the following reasons
-more pple are working & have no time to cook

-with that in mind, increase in working singles,i mean, some pple will find it troublesome to cook just for 1 person, you may end up with spoil-easy leftovers often

-there has been an increase in variety for such convenience foods & they are now more affordable for everyone

-advertising & media, I mean, have you seen those ads?the food just look so delicious.i mean why waste 2 hrs cooking a stew when you can get a tastier version of the same dish within minutes

Because people are seriously lazy and have forgotten how good food tastes. Making biscuits from scratch takes about 5 minutes but people will buy those disgusting "biscuits" in a can instead of making their own. Laziness is the answer. And don't let anyone tell you it's because they are busy or don't have time. I bet they have time to watch t.v. or sit on the sofa.

Because of a few reasons.

There are more ppl living a single life,
There are more households where both adults work,
And of course it's easy.

All in all, it's mostly a time thing, ppl just don't have time to make a decent home made meal.

definite to all the above except for pre boiled eggs, that should be minging i love mine organic and organic and clean. pre sliced fruit luggage for the youngsters packed lunch, if i slice it, that's going to likely be brown and manky with the help of lunch, pre made mash, infrequently yet when in an severe rush i will purchase it, waiting chopped blended veg in luggage frozen for convienience, waiting grated cheese each from time to time if its on furnish and that i will get extra in line with gram grated than good then i will purchase it. salad luggage definite because i choose a mix and its wasteful and uneconomical to purchase all of them seperate it basically does not all get eaten and finally waiting made fowl tikka or such basically not often at the same time as selection is low, time is of a correct fee. so nowt to do with being lazy each from time to time its a time or fee selection.

OK sometimes it can be laziness but sometimes
it can be because there are just not enough hours in a day.
everyone just has so much to do and not enough time to do it.
so if it means saving yourself slaving away for hours on end in the kitchen after a long day at work , delays on the central line and still planning your next weeks lessons when you finally get home, who cares?

Because most people lack the time or the skill to prep their own food. But it is good I suppose that they have the extra cash to spend for not cooking. Its not that hard. I've been cooking since I was 8. Its kinda funny when you think about it.

Because there are more lazy, fat people who want their food RIGHT NOW and can't make the effort to try to cook something that's good for them or their children. Lazy @ssho!es, do yourself a favor and buy a Weight Watchers cookbook.
