Shampooing less often prevents oily hair. Washing your hair every day strips it of natural oils and coats it with unnecessary chemicals and residue, leaving it limp and under-nourished. Find a shampoo that suits your hair type and wash every other day.

Rinsing thoroughly prevents oily hair. The build up of compounds from styling products and perspiration contributes to the problem of oily hair. Spend an extra minute to scrub under the water

healthy diet prevents oily hair. Avoid excessively fatty and oily foods, as well as additives and preservatives. Heavy fats work their way into skin oils, causing overly oily skin and hair. Increase your intake of vitamins, minerals, and proteins: they work to strengthen your hair.

Added stress causes oily hair. Stress in other parts of your life (such as the fluctuating hormones of the female cycle) will affect the state of your hair (and the rest of your body), so be aware of your mental and emotional health and take time every day to wind down and relax. u cud do da following:-

1 Sprinkling baby (talcum) powder onto your hair and combing it off is a temporary remedy for excessive oiliness.

2 Add natural oils like a 1/2 teaspon of aloe vera gel and tablespoon of lemon juice to your regular shampoo routine.

3 Brush with natural fibers. Instead of a brush with synthetic plastic or metal teeth, it's best to use one with bristles made out of animal hair or other natural fibers.

The best thing you can do is wash your hair every day. Try not to touch your hair too much with your fingers.. Use wightless or volumizing shampoos and conditioners.. If you use conditioner try to only use it on your ends where they need it the most. I have really oily hair and I have to wash it every morning. Its just something you get used to do after a while. If I dont wash my hair every day it looks really oily and last thing you want people to think is that you dont shower often. So just do it and live with it, simple as that. If you think that not washing your hair every day will balance out your oils in your hair your wrong. All it does is makes your hair even oilier.

I had that problem when i was younger. I still have to wash my hair everyday. I have been doing hair for many years. Try a shampoo that is cleansing not conditioning. The added conditioners in a conditioning shampoo will only make your hair oilier, so start with a cleansing shampoo first. Anytrhing by neutrogena should be good. Good luck.

My friend had the same problem... she started using biolage neutralizing shampoo and only conditioning the ends... is the best way she finds to keep her hair less oily. We find the biolage products at Rite Aid, Target, Trade Secret, Hair Cuttery

I've read in several magazines and heard from many celebraties to not wash your hair everyday. Try to wash it every other day. If that still doesn't help I suggest going 2 days without washing your hair. You can buy products that keep your hair smelling and looking fresh even if you haven't washed it.
