Would you date that guy later on? Knowing he had been intimate with a 17 year old girl?
I am a 25 year old woman asking this question by the way

More info.......i am thinking about dating this guy but it bothers me that he dated this 17 year old girl like a month ago. Prior to dating him, the 17 year old girl was engaged to a 20 year old guy. Thats the only info I know on her. The guy in question hasn't been in a serious relationship in 3 years after ending a 4 year relationship until he got with the young one.

It may have been illegal! I guess in absolute terms it is not a huge difference - if they had been 27 and 35 it's the same number of years - but I'd be concerned what kind of "relationship" he had with a minor. It's not like he was 19 and she 17.
I'd be careful. Good luck.

1. Its illlegal
2. HOW does a normal 25 year old man even meet a 17 year old high school girl??
3. Why do people his age not date him.
Dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with an age gap in a relationship but at that age its a little odd...there are no mature 17 year olds and at 25 a guy should not be places where 17 year old girls hang out...now if she was 25 and he was 33 that would be completely different because she is older, smarter and not as naive as she is now at 17...

You know, my hubby is 8 years older than me. So, this is a toughie. I am of the thought that once both partners are over 21, the age difference doesn't mean much....but prior to that, it's a little weird. But 25 and 17 arent' really that far apart. I probably wouldn't let this be a reason to not see a man, especially if I liked him for lots of other reasons. It's not like he is a pedophile or something...if he had dated a 13 year old, I would be bothered.

In most states 17 is considered legal age for sex, so he didn't do anything illegal. I would be cautious about entering into a relationship with him though because unless the 17 year old girl was very mature for her age, which is a possibility, he may have control issues, which is usually the reason a guy his age would date a 17 year old girl.

I would think he is immature. Most people date someone they are on the same maturity level with. Looks like he still needs to grow up. Besides 17 can land you in jail in some states, it is called a pedophile. Same as a 25 yr old woman dating a 17 year old boy, still a pedophile.
Worst case scenario, convicted of statutory rape and spend the rest of their life as a convicted sex offender.

How old is he now? I think it was very unwise (and possibly illegal) for him to be intimate with a 17-year-old. And an 8 years difference at that point in their lives was a LOT. But if it happened a few years ago, maybe he's had a chance to "grow up" a little by now. It would make me go very slowly in developing a relationship with him -- caution always pays off.

does that bother you? a 25 year old guy dating a 17 year old girl? why does it bother you? the age of consent in most US states is 17.
it really depends on the two individuals because perhaps the girl was mature for her age. you can't really generalize situations like this.
if it bothers you so much, then don't date the guy.

I am not opposed to age differences but it might be better for the 25 year old wait unrtil the 17 yr old turns 18 (age of accountability) Is the guy a old boyfriend/husband of yours?

There are a lot of variables to consider.
Is the guy mentally or emotionally immature and therefore better able to relate to a 17 year old?
Is the 17 year old "wise beyond her years" and having sex since she was 14?
I need more info...

Legally 17 is the age of consent in most states so he technically tip toed the line, kinda creepy but still legal.
Just a personal choice there.
Personally being intimate with anyone underage when you are over 19 is a no no.
