I bought easy dinners to make a couple weeks before delivery. Things like Hamburger Helper and those HomeStyle Bakes, plus my mom and my mother-in-law were always bringing dinner over for us.

I was planning to do some, but my daughter was over 2 weeks early. I did have some frozen dinners in the freezer, but I found that since my husband was home for the first week, I enjoyed cooking. It was the one and only time that I got a break from the baby during the day. We're expecting baby number 2 and we plan to just have a few frozen meals in the freezer like before, but we're not going to go overboard. Just 2-3 meals.

Right before my friend gave birth we went together to a place where you prepare the meals but do not cook them. We have several franchises in our area. In about two hours we prepared 12 meals each. Many of them, like the pasta dishes, could be split so we actually ended up with more than 12. You choose the meals you want to prepare ahead of time off their menu. When you get there, they have the recipe and all the ingredients chopped. You can alter the recipe to suit your taste. I made calzones, stuffed chicken, penne pasta bake and others. It is fun and when you are finished, you just move to the next station, they clean all the dishes. Wishing you a fast and easy delivery!

I never did, I mean my husband knows how to boil water and noodles for spaghetti, cook chicken on the grill, make soups and grilled cheeses, heat veggies and boil potatoes. No one was going to starve, plus there is always take out from places. Plus, after delivery I was so tired I barely wanted to eat anyways. I was lucky to eat a bowl of cereal a day. To each their own though! I suppose if your husband is a complete moron with cooking I would try to do some.

No, not with any of my 3 kids!!
It sounds so lovely and like the best idea ever, but it just never materialized.
We didnt starve to death or only eat cold cereal. A couple of meals were provided by friends or family but I did manage to cook. Nothing fancy or elaborate. And always made enough so we had leftovers.
Good Luck!

Yes, I did put several meals in the freezer, so my husband could easily feed himself while I was in the hospital. And I made a master shopping list so he could check to see what he might need to buy in my absence. My Mom came to stay for a while after I came home with the baby, so she cooked our meals for about a week.

No. My husband is a great cook so he took over the cooking duties. It was great and 24 years later he is still cooking for the family. Awesome.

No, I didn't. My mom and husband fed me for the first few weeks, then I was back to cooking it after that.
