Because it is just a game to them to bolster their self-esteem. They flirt with you until you show interest which tells them they are hot and can have you if they wanted you, which is their only goal and once that goal is met, you are no longer of use to you because they are not really interested in you. Women like this love being wanted, they don't want to be loved.

Sometimes men think that women are flirting with them when all they are doing is treating them nice just like they would anyone else. Some men think that any attention that they get from a woman must be flirting. Then if they come on really strong back the woman thinks what the heck I was just being nice. It's that communication thingy between the sexes. Some men are clueless and some women are too.

OK, alot of women flirt unintentionally. It's our nature and that just happens. Even if we don't like the guy, we'll still flirt, and we just don't realize it. But if you don't flirt back with a girl who you think is flirting with you, she'll probably ask you if you like her or not so then you tell her.

Perhaps you're misinterpreting their "flirting." Maybe the are just being polite and friendly, and it comes across as flirting to you.
Studies have shown that men are predisposed to think that women are being more flirtatious and attracted than they really are, and women are predisposed to think men are more insincere and unfaithful than they really are. (Part of a primitive reproductive strategy in which men want to spend their genes and women need to find dependable providers.)

Sometimes women just flirt for some kind of benefit....for example, FREE DRINKS. Then, after they've faked an "interest", they'll go and give you a fake phone number!

You're doing something wrong. Check your "flirting signals". You may be acting too over anxious. They only like that when your a puppy.

Some women play games. They like the "thrill of the hunt", not the actual capture. You don't need one like this. It'll be a lifelong thing.
