dvd's not playing?

all of a sudden my dvd player won't play most dvd's, even new ones. it says unknown disc. what's wrong and what can I do?

You could try a DVD lens cleaning kit - you can find those at places like Best Buy, Radio Shack and Wal-Mart for around $15.... It could be something minor like dust on the lens
