Depends what country you are in of course - you did not say. When I just wanted one I typed "Rumtopf" into a search engine ( EG Google, Yahoo, Ixquick, etc) and found a number of sites that offered them for sale - as well as a number of sites with recipes and instructions. Do remember that there are variant spellings of the word. As this worked for me I recommend it to you. Good hunting.

I have had a beautiful red Rumtopf Jar for 15 years and have never used it and wish I had. I won it in a competition that took about 5 hours to complete.

Think most china shops sell them, depends where you live. Germany have loads.

Believe it or not I once got one out of one of "the catalogues" if you get my drift, and although it was a fairly big one, six litres sounds a bit on the big size (!) - what are you going to put in it - pumpkins ? ? ?
Anyway, there's bound to be somebody you know who's an agent - have a look through their book. Also (but I don't really thinks so) - ASK Lakeland in Cumbria. Don't just look on their site, actually phone them. They may well be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck!

A 6 litre jar sounds ginormous!!! mine holds 2 litres of vodka w/ fruit and sugar - I've no idea on this one except to improvise with a large ceramic vase and sterilise it then seal very tightly...what's it for/ breadfruit, durian, marrow and squash? ? lol

Any glazed pottery jar with a good lid should work.

My grandmother just used a basic pottery crock with cover. It should be easy to find a crock.
