everyone I would post the info from the vet, so if they had a similiar issue they would know what it could be. I didn't realize that after I selected a best answer I couldn't add more details. Sooo....here is what the vet said: Maui had no ticks, no fleas, & no mites. We found a couple more scabby bumps under his chin & on his back. The vet noticed that Maui had shorter hairs around his hind end from chewing on it. He said he definitely had an allergy to something (side note: my vet is awesome & is usually right on the money..I drive 45 min. to see him..love the place..anyhoo..) He said since there are no fleas, ticks, mites it usually indicates an environmental or a food allergy. Sooo...he got an allergy shot that's good for about 2 mos. & we switched his food. If the bumps come back after the 2 mos. then we are going to try a hypo-allergenic (spelling?) food. If it turns out to be an environ allergy, he'll have to take meds for it. Maui's doing good & loves the new food!

Thanks! I didn't even know they made cat food for sensitive skin...Do you know the name of it? I'll keep him on this new stuff for the 2 months. He really likes it & if they allergies stay away we'll definitely keep the new food. Thanks again & sorry about the kitty running away :(

Yes! I love my vet. It's an awesome office & truly one of those special places that do not do it all for money. They are very good & very affordable! I love em'! If you are in the DFW, Texas area let me know & I'll get you the vets name & number.

very proud that you are such a responsible pet owner. my life is animals. work in a vet.s office, do foster care and some volunteer work, studying animal welfare and education. so many times i come to this site and just have to get off, because people ask what they should do or for home remedies, like going to the vet never crossed their minds. Good for you!! let me repeat myself, if you are going to have an animal or pet, you must be willing to take it to the vet. please, home remedies can contain ingredients that can kill your domestic pet. they now have pet insurance and wellness plans, where money is taken out of checking each month, so cost is no excuse. I also have an awesome vet. (other then the one i work for) and drive an hour to go see him. some vets do it for the cause and not the money. you can find affordable vet care, you just have to do some research.

Good news for Maui. My mom's cat has to have allergy shots about every 6 weeks, they work wonders. You have a great vet. You might also try a cat food that is for sensitive skin, that has helped my mom's cat too.
