I have dreadlocks and i really do not like any and anyone twisting and locking my hair. My hairdresser is booked solid these days so i went to another one but she used beeswax and i have never used that before. I decided that i would do my hair myself.
Can anyone give me tips or sites that will teach me how to use the hook in my hair when locking my dreadlocks step by step? Thanks!

Yes! Keeping dreadlocks neat takes a lot of work. The easiest method is to have it done by a professional (at a hair salon) You can also do it at home using a simple interlocking tool (I believe) is available form haildressers supplies' stores.

Doing it at home reuires extreme patience but can also be very therapeutic.

First, section hair into quarters or smaller and secure each section with scrunchies, dinkies of hairpins.

Taking each section individually, each 'Lock" must be held between the thumb and forefinger and twisted (twirked/turned) in clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.

This does two things:
1. it separates each 'lock' from the others preventing matting
2. It neatens individual locks at the base of the scalp

'Finished' locks should be re-secured using bobby pins to keep neat then each finished section re-fastened till all sections are done.

Some ppl also prefer to do what is called 'interlocking' which is threading the 'lock' through at the base of the scalp a few times.

This also helps to neaten up the new growth.

CAUTION: DO NOT INTERLOCK TOO TIGHTLY THO'

In between shampoos and salon visits, put hair back into small sections at bedtime and wear a soft (surgical type to allow good ventilation) night-cap to help keep neater longer.
Hope I've explained clearly enough for you to understand. Cheers

Take Gel, put it in your hair, then twist it with your finger, then take a pin and use it to hold it tight, leave it in till the next day, and then take the pins out, and your hair is done, Ya DIGG!
