Bistecca alla Fiorentina
Grilled T-Bone Steak Tuscan Style

A final drizzle of good olive oil and a squirt of fresh lemon juice gives this steak its Florentine flavor. Each steak serves 2. To carve the steaks, cut the meat from the bone with the tip of your knife; it will separate easily and cleanly from the bones if you use short strokes and keep the blade as close to the bone as you can. Once you have cut the meat free, carve it into slices.

Makes 8 servings

Ingredients:

4 T-bone steaks, 1-1/2 inches thick
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, divided use
1/4 cup minced garlic
4 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
2 teaspoons minced rosemary leaves
3 tablespoons lemon juice

Preparation:

Preheat a gas grill to high, leave one burner off. If you are using a charcoal grill, build a fire and let it burn down until the coals are glowing red with a light coating of white ash. Spread the coals in an even bed on one side of the grill. Clean the cooking grate.

Brush the steaks with a bit of the oil and season generously with the garlic, salt, pepper and rosemary.

Grill the steaks over direct heat until marked, about 2 minutes on each side. Move the steaks to the cooler part of the grill and continue to grill over indirect medium heat until medium-rare, another 6 to 7 minutes on each side.

Transfer the meat to a cutting board or a large platter. Drizzle each of the steaks with 2 teaspoons more olive oil and finish by sprinkling the steaks with lemon juice.

Let the steaks rest for about 10 to 15 minutes before carving into slices. Serve on a heated platter or plates.

Okay, this way is really good, but takes about 2-3 hours.
First season the steak with salt, pepper & garlic powder.
Slice the onion into round slices.
In a med size pot add a little oil & sautee the onions.
Take the onions out & set to the side.
Brown each side of the steak about 1-2 min per side.
After all is browned, put all the pieces of steak into the pot & add the onions on top.
Take the soup & mix with 2 can of hot water & pour onto of the steak & onions.
Let this come to a boil & then turn the flame down low & let simmer for about 2 hr; the longer it simmer the more tender the meat will be. If you have any steak sauce add some to the pot.
Serve with rice or mashed potatoes.
As far as the veggies, just put them in a pot with a little water, butter & seasoning & cook for about 5 min.

You have a whole meal with those ingredients. Don't mix them all together, your trying to prove that you can cook, so make different dishes with each.

Dish #1
First. Cut your onion in half and peal it. Wrap both halves in aluminum foil with a 1/4 inch slice of butter on the side you cut. Add a little salt and pepper and close them up. Place them on a baking sheet in the oven on 400 degrees for 30 minutes.

Dish #2
Once you onion is done, turn the heat up to low broil in the oven. Season you meat to taste with salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc. Anything you want, but make sure you use salt and pepper. Broil the steak on the top rack of the oven. Use a broiling pan and wrap it with aluminum foil. Place the seasoned steak on and stick it in. After 4 minutes flip it. After 4 more minutes it's done. Remove it from the oven and place it on a cutting board and LET IT SIT.

Dish #3
Make your mixed veggies.

Once the veggies are done, slice your steak for presentation. Plate the steak. Open your onion pouches. Slice one of the halves up and arrange them over the steak. Leave the other 1/2 whole and place it on the side. Plate you mixed veggies.

DONE DEAL. YOUR ON YOUR OWN!

If you want to use your mushroom soup, use it as a starter. Then you've make an appy, steak and 2 sides.

Hi - first of all I congratulate for trying: Here's something you might think about --

Cube your steak into bite size pieces, season with garlic salt & pepper then brown lightly in a skillet in olive oil. After it's brown, add the fresh brocoli (cut into flowerets) and onion (cut into large slices) like for a stir fry (if you have a wok, this would be even better). Add a little water (or wine) to the pan, cover & let simmer until meet is tender and veggies are crisp tender. You may add the corn last, or save it for another meal. This can be served over white rice. You can also add, or put on the table some soy sauce. As for the cream of mushroom soup, use that for an appetizer along with a small salad. The salad dressing can be homemade very simply: 5 tablespoons olive oil, 2 1/4 tablespoons vinegar, 1 tablespoon water, generous: garlic powder, salt, pepper and lemon pepper if you have it. Bread and butter can also be served. If he likes it, send him home with a doggy bag for a reminder - you really can cook. Just don't forget, it's a big step for both of you to be out on your own - and his home will always by your home too - no matter how old you are - he just really loves you!!

Number One, If you do anything but pan fry or broil that steak your Dad will wonder what the heck are you doing to a good piece of meat. Saute the onions in a skillet with butter, Broil the steak 7 mins a side with a little S&P, cook up some mixed veggies and plate everything with the onions over the steak. Dad will look at that and say " Now that's a meal "I" like". The simpler the better

OK, slice the onion. Put in a baking pan. Put the steak on top of the onions, sprinkle a little salt and pepper on top, and cook for about 30 to 40 minute in a pre-heated oven at 375 degrees F.
Make the can of soup following the directions. Prepare the broccoli in just a little water and cook until tender, but not mushy, season with a little salt and pepper. Remember to cook your veggies with the lid on to keep in the vitamins.
If you have bread, make some toast. Butter the toast.
When it is time to serve, put the steak on the plate on top of the toast. Top with a little soup ( as a sauce) and a few of the onions. Put the broccoli on the side. Good luck!

ok, i know its not in your list of ingredients, but do you have garlic and oil (veg or olive). if so, cut up your garlic really small, and mix it with the oil and some of ya mixed spices; if you want, put a quarter of the onion finly diced into it. (bit of salt and pepper in it if you want to). put your steak in it and leave for a bit to marinade.

If you are wanting to do a soup for like a starter, cook that, its simple enough.

cook ya mixed veg, depending on the veg either roast it or boil it.
cook ya broccoli (prefrebly steam it as it will keep its vitamins and minerals a lot more)

put ya onion into a frying pan of hot oil, or butter. then sautee (sweat off) to release the flavour, then when ya veg is almost cooked, ad ya steak and cook through, how long you wait depend on how cooked you want it to be.
(the best way to tell how cooked ya steak is, is to squeeze it (push it with ya fingure), the harder it is the more well done it is) If you are not sure though of how cooked that is, alwas just cut in through the thickest part to check how cooked in the middle it is.

then dish it up. you should have a perfect meal.

i hope yu sort something out in the end, it would be brill if you could type up here what it is you actually did in the end, or just went to the chip shop, *winks*, lol.

Good luck.

For really easy and tasty steak: rub on both sides with garlic salt and coarse ground black pepper. Let it set for at least a half an hour, then sear in a hot skillet (about 3 minutes per side), and finish cooking to desired "wellness" in a 350 degree oven. (Okay, so cooking over a grill is probably preferable, but tricky, so go with the stove-oven method). Serve with corn and steamed broccoli. If you have time, make creamed corn from the corn (check www.epicurious.com for recipies). If you are a wine drinker, grab a bottle of Cotes du Rhone from your local Trader Joe's or other wine shop (TJ's will be more cost effective).

Hope you enjoy your dinner!

What cut is the steak, what grade? A good cut is wasted if flavored with anything other than kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Bring the steak to room temperature. Use a cast iron skillet and place it in an oven and preheat the oven (with skillet inside) to 500 F. Place your stove top burner on medium-high. When everything is at temperature, place the heated pan on the stove top and place the seasoned steak in the skillet. Turn after one minute. When both sides have been seared, place the skillet in the oven for 3 minutes, turn the steak and back in the oven for 3 minutes.

DONE!

As far as the other ingredients, steam the veggies and eat the soup as a first course.

salt and pepper the steak, sear it in a hot skillet with a lil veggie oil at a fairly high heat. Make sure the oil is smoking lightly. toss the steak in and cook on first side for 3 minutes without messing with it,then turn it over and cook for anouther 3 minutes. If ya like them rare only cook for 2 minutes per side. Put the onion and soup back in the pantry and prepare the veggies for your side dishes. But cooking a steak is a far cry from BEING ON YOUR OWN. when your on your own you first have to buy the steak and veggies with YOUR MONEY
