Wow. Talk about a well spoken fundamental question! I can offer only my opinion on the matter and my reasoning for that opinion. Past this, you must decide for yourself.
I think that we all reach for the devine in one form or another throughout our lives in an attempt to justify the experiences that we have. I can say that considering Sagen's 'Billions and Billions' of worlds out there, that somewhere, someplace there is most likely a race that to us would appear to be 'Super' natural in their comprehension of the universe. They may even be able to create a world and set it upon an evolutionary path simular to our own. In this sense, I believe in the possibility of a Higher Presence. Other than that, I tend to think that nearly all of humanity is constantly reaching for self justification and a deeper meaning to their lives...especially when the full reality of the briefness of those lives becomes apparent. (In Example; when a relative passes or their own life becomes finite in duration) One of the greatest boons our forefathers gave us was the anchor that is religion to base our lives on a common set of morals and acceptable behavior. It is also, in my opinion, one of the heaviest burdens that we have to overcome when trying to grow to our potential. It prevents a person from taking full and complete acceptance for the consequences of their deeds in life. I think that in the end analysis, a person must look direct and unflinchingly in the mirror to find their God and the one that they must be fully accountable to. As I said...just my opinion and I hope that either this will help or that you can find a better answer out there. Luck to you my friend.

If you believe that there is a God, then you shouldn't turn to just anyone. If you do you might turn to somone who does not believe in God, and they will only give you the advice to turn away from God. The bible, yes can be boring, but it is life's instruction manual. You don't have to read it all at once, take small pieces and meditate on it.
To believe in God you have to have faith, and it sounds to me like you have some, otherwise you would never admit that there IS a God!
Turning to God could be the greatest thing you can ever do. By turning to man you will only get man opinion. Pray.. God will answer.

Sounds like you want a religion that suits you...which is not uncommon, but it may leave you unfulfilled like you describe. There is a problem with your approach, in my opinion. Since you asked, I will share. It is VERY possible, that there is truth, and just "they way it is", with this God you mention, that no matter what, cannot be changed. However, it could still be truth, correct? I understand your search, and your frustration, but wouldn't you rather just discover the truth, WHATever it may be? I mean, you don't want a "form" of religion, that is not the true one, do you? Keep seeking the truth, and if its boring, so what? To others, the same material is fascinating, because it was inspired by God, and has truth, and ways to live this life, and answers to the problem of man. You need to decide if you want, and can accept, the truth. I think once you are convinced there are excellent reasons to back it up, you won't be so bored with it. Its NOT about being satisfied, entertained, and not annoyed so much.

What it comes down to is your personal relationship with God, your personal talks with him, what you do, feel, see, etc... on a daily basis that makes you believe inside that he is real... If you dont want to go to church, or believe most of whats in the bible you dont have to... the only required thing is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and live your life the way you believe God would want you to...
Church is more of a place to be to be a louder voice "two voices together will be heard louder than one, so pray together" and a way to feel closer to people who believe the same things you do... I often go to a non-denominational christian church, it is a shorter service with more praise and contemporary singing and just being happy and praising God for the things in your life he blesses you with, there is a short message left open to personal interpretation and when you leave you dont feel judged or held down to do things a certain way... there are many of these churches with day and night services all of which just make you feel welcome whether you come 3 times a week or 1 time a month... the point is you believe...

Here are 2 thoughts:
One is an iluustration from Matthew 13:24-39:
“The kingdom has become like a man that sowed fine seed in his field. His enemy came and oversowed weeds in among the wheat.
The slaves said ‘Master, do you want us, to collect them?’
He said, ‘No; that by no chance, while collecting the weeds, YOU uproot the wheat. Let both grow together until the harvest season when I will tell the reapers, "First collect the weeds, bind them in bundles and burn them up, then go to gathering the wheat into my storehouse.”
So it seems, for a time, finding a group that practices what Jesus really taught is like being at a second hand store.
You have to go through alot of junk to find something of value.
May I humbly suggest you don't give up your search.
And based on Matthew 7:13,14 it seems the real mccoy would be a smaller group.

Many people claim beleif in God and Jesus that have never opened a bible or set foot inside a church building.
Since you do not want to be a part of organized religion, or read the bibel. It is up to you to decide what you belive in this matter.
You need to see what you can beleive in and what you cannot and go from there.
I beleive in doing only that which is right.
I am a pagan, Wicca is my religion now. I choose Wicca because Wicca teaches that all religions are simply humankind's attempt to explain that which cannot be explained.
So we can live in peace with all other religions because we have no desire to convert others and we understand that each religion is the right religion for the beleiver.
I just say if you really want to believe then find what you are comfortable with and it is okay to create your own personal beleif syatem. You do not have to confrom to an organized belief system Christian, pagan, or any other known system. Your own personal religion will be just as valid as the organized ones.
I know many people lik eyou and they just say that they beleive there is somethig out there that may have created us, but they do not know what.

First ask yourself this: have you thoroughly researched all available organized religions? have you given each one equal and careful consideration? If not, then give them a chance once more and let them be completely revealed to you.
If it still doesn't do it for you, then follow your heart: believe in God, spirit, creator, as your heart wishes to believe, in a way that comforts and reassures you. (in this case don't give it too much thought)
Sometimes when the mind is overloaded with information and can no longer reason, the heart leads the way.
The very fact that you want to have faith in God means you already believe in something.

Pls call 1-800-421-2565 for a totally FREE gift on DVD or video from the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints, the Mormons. I was a Catholic all my life and confused about where I should worship and what religion was the true religion that I should belong to. After receiving my free gift and inviting their elder missionaries over to my house and learning how to really pray to God I received the gift of wisdom and in my heart through prayer did I find my niche and 19 years later I and two of my eight children are now members of this great organization where the practice is all about God, Jesus, the Holy Ghost, Love, and Family just in this order too. I'm grateful and truly blessed.

I am pleased that you have not found any organized religion to believe in because there is nothing that will destroy faith faster than an denominational church---they are full of demons. Non-denominational Christian is the best way to go. Find a small local church that is in to Holy Ghost preaching, where people celebrate the joy of the Lord rather than sit in the pews like they are at a funeral service. Find a church that has good Bible preaching. Find a church where you can serve. God is in your life and he wants you to know it. Find a church that is alive in his word and will will discover just how much he loves you and just how many blessings he has in store for you---his love and blessings are unlimited. God bless you and remember that Jesus loves you.

There's a saying: Anything worth having is worth working for.
If you truly want to resolve this question YOU will have to put forth effort and search. Many people want to believe in God but don't want their way of life interfered with. They look for a religion that will go along with how they want to live. Actually we should study the bible with the intent of learning how God wants us to live. God wants us to find him. Pray sincerely for his help. Don't dismiss a religion because it teaches something you don't agree with. See what the bible teaches. That should be the basis for whatever we believe. Remember the bible doesn't contradict itself but we as people perceive it as so. It will take careful research. Also don't base your decision upon emotion. The bible says to serve God with your heart but with your mind also (Matthew 22:37)
