I have a short bob and for the last couple of months, I have been trying to grow my fringe out. I am trying to wear it as a side fringe in the meantime - any hints on what to do for the next six months or so until it grows out completely? So that it doesn't drive me mad?

PS Yes, for American answerers, I think a fringe is called bangs over there!

It's so frustrating, but hang in there... My biggest suggestion is that you hide the scissors and really stick it out through the awkward phase. I tried several times to grow out my fringe, but got irritated with it and cut it each time myself. I really regretted it later, and it took forever doing it this way. I finally stuck to it this time and made a commitment to myself not to cut them when they were in the awkward phase. It's taken almost a year, but it DOES get better. Stick with it. For a while, I pinned them back with clips, which does help. It also helps if you just go to the stylist and have them help you by keeping the rest of your hair in style as the fringe is growing. Think of the long term outcome and don't give up. GOOD LUCK!

I'm currently growing out my fringe too. During the day I just use cirpby grips to pin it back. And then at night I leave it down in a side fringe. As it grows it is best to keep cutting it into a style to blend in with the rest of the hair, so it looks like a sweeping fringe. As it grows it'll just look like the front of the hair is feathered.

Put the fringe into a quiff using hair 2-3 hair slides depending on how thick your hair is, or wait a little while until your hair is slightly longer and use an alice band to keep it out of your face. As for wearing it as a side fringe, get it cut as a slight side fringe, looks different and is easier 2 keep out of the way sometimes depending on your look

I'm also growing out my fringe (one minute of fashion madness after watching The Devil Wears Prada.... followed by 5 months trying to grow it back again!). I use Bed Head Tigi After Party Creme to slick it back if I'm trying to get a smooth look with high pony tail. Or I hide it under a thick hairband (a la Audrey Hepburn). Find something 60's inspired for spring if you're a real fashionista and want to 'create the look'! Failing that, just wear it as a fringe to the side and use something to keep it there.

Yeah, I know how you feel! - I'm growing mine out, too!
I've had fun with it though. I liked it as a side fringe, when you go to hairdressers ask to trim it into a side fringe, it'll help it stay more or less in place. Then also try putting pretty clips in it, to keep it to the side.
Have fun! :-)

What's a fringe? You mean bangs? Use bobby pins or sophisticated barrettes to hold it back.

either comb it and twist it back and secure with a hair grip or pin it to the side of you face.

you will be suprised on how fast it can grow.
and dont get it cut when you have the rest of your hair done. as its short chances are you wont get split ends in it.

Backcomb it and pull it directly back from you face in a quiff style secure with a slide or some kirby grips
