The word of god is self-justifying and no human effort can prove or disprove any part of it. The Bible must be taken on faith and faith alone.

Well i don't feel like giving specific links and stuff but I do know that lots of the history described has been supported by evidence such as the peoples, lands, etc and in fact they just had a special on TV about the Biblical military conflicts and had lots of data about the area, the kings and how the bible gave a general idea of what really happened.
Also recently they found what they think might be the Ark of Noah and I was reading article about how the whole Moses parting the sea supposedly happened during a time that the tide recedes and floods back in a cycle and the water turning to blood thing from Moses coincided with evidence that there was a mudslide from a mountain that had lots of red clay making water red

My rule of thumb...the historical stuff generally tends to be OK but the God parts are unreliable

There is all kinds of evidence. You've read about the historical facts that the Bible shows. Especially Luke, he was a historian besides being a physician.

There is also loads of Scientific evidence written there.

The earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22).
Incalculable number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22).
Free float of earth in space (Job 26:7).
Creation made of invisible elements (Hebrews 11:3).
Each star is different (1 Corinthians 15:41).
Light moves (Job 38:19,20). Light moves.
Air has weight (Job 28:25).
Winds blow in cyclones (Ecclesiastes 1:6).
Blood is the source of life and health (Leviticus 17:11).
Ocean floor contains deep valleys and mountains
(2 Samuel 22:16;Jonah 2:6).
Ocean contains springs (Job 38:16).
When dealing with disease, hands should be washed
under running water (Leviticus 15:13).

These are but a few.

On the spiritual side, the God promised to give us the Holy Ghost and power (gifts). Go to a Pentecostal or Apostolic church in your are and you will most likely hear people talking in tongues (when a person receives the Holy Ghost they get this gift). You might see other people with the gift of interpreting, healing, prophecy.

On the physical side, God told us in the Bible what the world was like at (and after) creation and what happened in the flood. Evolution says that man came millions of years after the dinosaurs, but the Bible says that man and dinosaurs (that word was first used in 1884, in the Bible they are called dragons, Leviathan or Behemoth) lived together. There are a number of places around the world where there are human and dinosaur foot prints in the same rock. (Do a web search with the key words "human dinosaur foot prints" to see more.

Plus there are many other pieces of evidence that shows that the Bible is true.

Think of the 4 gospels....They were written down, by eyewitnesses to the events, and one or two was written by a close friend or associate of the eyewitness. This is not totally different than a reporter, writing about , what they see. People that lived back then, knew it was big stuff going on. Even the non-christians of the day, knew about it sometimes, and leadership was threatened by it! It makes sense, that some wrote down, so the rest of history can know about it. The fact that it made it this long, and that there are SO many manuscripts, etc, only adds to the validitiy. Later, in early church history, you have very plausible people, saying that in fact, it was legitimately written by the authors. Eyewitness testimony is huge.

The Bible has outlived most of the ancient cities, and cultures where it was first read. It exists, they don't. The Bible predicted this, they didn't. The Bible has a supernatural power to draw people to it (you are evidence of that fact). And, after reading the Bible, I realized that I know more than people who haven't. Pretty simple logic really.

Live long, and prosper...

Mr. Sho-nuff, you have asked questions like this before.
Why again?
American archaeologist W. F. Albright wrote:
“Archeological data have demonstrated the substantial originality of the Books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel, Ezra and Nehemiah, beyond doubt; they have confirmed the traditional picture of events, as well as their order.”
The Bible After Twenty Years of Archeology p. 547.

In 'The Archaeology of the New Testament', published in 1970,
E. M. Blaiklock writes:
“Striking vindications of biblical historiography have taught historians to respect the authority of both Old Testament and New, and to admire the accuracy, the deep concern for truth, and the inspired historical insight of the varied writers who gave the Bible its books of history.”

The Garden of Eden is meant to have existed in Mesopotamia, also known as the cradle of civilization, a fertile area where rivers converged. Yet like mythology here it is the image which is important, not as an actual place which existed but a garden as a concept

A few of the towns have been validated, archeologists even believe they've found Soddam and Gomoreah, and that indeed they were destroyed by massive and sudden fires (although, still not a miracle, the fires were vulcanic in origin).

A few of the people definately existed such as Paul of Tarsus, and Jesus of Bethleham probably existed, though no evidence to date has been found of Moses, Noah, or Abraham's existance.

There is quite a bit of historical fact in the Bible. It mentions cities that still exist and others that are ruins, but known ruins. It mentions people by name that also appear in other historical records.

When Jesus died on the cross that's when our concept of time and calendar began...who do we know other than a baby born in a stable who led a very meager life and died on a cross like a criminal was in human history important enough to start our calender?
