Your rottweiler sounds like a sweet boy, but feeding him fast food isn't really a good idea. Larger breed dogs tend towards having sensitive digestive systems, and although some dogs seem to have no problems eating everything in sight, it's not good for them. Excess gas, bloating, vomiting and diarrhea are all very unhealthy for dogs (just like people), and if the fast food is causing these things, you should stop giving them to him.
There are tons of treats on the market made especially for dogs; try something all natural or organic, made with carob or other natural sweeteners. Most dogs have a sweet tooth, and while they can't have chocolate, there are lots of natural alternatives.
We have two Great Danes, and have been advised strongly by our vet to avoid all people food due to the gas and bloating they can cause. I know that it probably looks like Ham is loving that Triple Whopper, the pain and discomfort it's causing him is no fun for him.

Any food with a high fat content is bad for a dog. They can develop pancreatitis, which can be fatal, from eating a high fat meal. The vomiting and diarrhea you are describing are from the inflammation caused by the "fast food". If you want to treat the dog, buy a plain hamburger. Do not feed fries, and do not give carbonated beverages. A canine's digestive system is not the same as ours or we would be eating kibble along with our pets.
We recently had a client who brought in their boxer who had been vomiting for 48 hours. He had shared some Italian Sausage and beer during a family picnic. He developed pancretis, and the organ became necrotic. He sufferered horribly until the owner's let him be euthanized. We see this too often. Protect your dog, Ham, and let other's know what a dangerous thing high fat foods are for dogs.

In an emergency you can feed a dog just about anything and it will thrive on it. Is fast food a good thing for dogs - NO - it's barely passable fare for human consumption. That said; on road trips I have bought a Kid's Meal @ McDonalds when on a road trip for my last dog. My current dog doesn't do road trips so he's never had to eat that crap.

I feed my dog some fast food like a piece of chicken from McDonalds, but it's not good @ all reason I rarely feed it to them and I eat it.
My boyfriend's boss use to feed their dog (black lab) McDonald's Big Macs and let her eat whole ones for years. Now the dog has a weight problem that they have to put her on a diet. The dog also had to have surgery on her legs because of the weight problem. I don't know all the problems that ocurred, but quite a few did and I felt bad for the dog. Although she came through it all can you imagine the cost that went into the vet bills.
Sure you can feed your dog fast food, but down the road your dog will have numerous health problems and you will rack up quite a few vet bills for these health problems.
I would personally stick to the dog food and occasionally human chicken breast or hamburger meant, but not all the time. To think it's already unhealthy for a human to eat this stuff, imagine what it can do to a dog.

I really hope you are just being one of those jerks that get on her and aske stupid questions just to ruffle peoples feathers. But just in case you are serious, Fast food can cause pancreatitis and kill an animal. Caffine can also cause tachycardia in animals and I'm sure the carbonation is not good. Actually, as long as you leave the onions off, a good roastbeef, chicken or tuna sandwich from subway may not be so bad.

I sure hope you are just kidding around, a dog should never be given anything that you know will make them become sick to their stomach. All they really need is a good dog food and clean water on a daily basis.A treat from time to time will do them good----but never Diet Coke.......Subway should only be eaten by humans....If he gets bowel trouble from the food you feed him then why torture the poor thing?

Fast food can be as bad for dogs as it is for humans. Cut out the soft drinks--they're pretty acidic (Diet Mountain Dew is a great way to clean off the corrosion on your car battery--I wouldn't put it in my dog's stomach, even though I'm addicted). In moderation, it's OK. Our dog is diabetic, but every now and then she gets a french fry or two, or half a regular cheeseburger.

Dogs CAN eat fastfood, but it isn't good for them. My Yorkies LOVE french fries from McDonalds, but when I give my girl yorkie frenchfries, sometimes it makes her sick. They need certain vitamins for their growth. I don't know about rottweilers, but yorkies continue to grow inside for two years, so their dogfood is really the best food for them due to the vitamins. I feel responsible for her sickness, when she eats fries because I know what it does to her, so I have stopped giving them to her. There are birthday cakes for dogs, made out of special ingrediants. I would give him something made for dogs, before I gave him a meal that is really not even good for humans. :) Go to dogsdeli.com, they have made to order food for dogs! Goodluck, and happy birthday Ham!

just because they CAN eat it doesn't mean they SHOULD.
it can cause all of the same problems in dogs that it can in humans only dogs would be at higher risk because their bodies don't metabolize food the same way.
if soda is bad for humans, it is much worse for dogs, it affects not only the kidneys and liver, but also carbonation weakens the bones which can lead to osteoporosis.

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??? You are giving him food that makes him vomit and squirt for days, and you think it's what he should have for his birthday?? Hope you're sterile so you don't pass the genes along, dude.
Watch the movie, "Fast Food Nation", and get a clue.
And try a good dry dog food, even Wal-Mart brand is better that what you're feeding him AND yourself.
