The Rosetta Stone is a very good program for any language learner. I think it's an excellent tool for beginners. It's a little lacking for someone who has been proficient in the language for a while, but a good vocab review nonetheless. I say give it a go since I have seen it work for many, and not only for Russian. I've seen it work for Persian as well.

I have heard great things about it - it has been used by US State Department diplomats, Fortune 500 executives and lots of other people. I just saw an ad in a magazine for 10% off the program.
