Actually, it's the opposite. Sometimes, if the woman's uterus isn't firming up well after the birth, the nurse/doctor will do "uterine massage" and try to get it to firm up by massaging it through your belly.

No.......as a matter of fact the Drs and nurses will press on your uterus to make sure everything is OK in there.

It is not true. It is fine to press or massage. It is a typically done to encourage your uterus to tightening back to its normal pear shaped size.
You do not want to do it too much though. You could make yourself sore.
It is good however to check it yourself and make sure you feel it getting smaller.

When i had my daughter, and after i delivered the placenta, the doctor pressed on my stomach to expell more fluids and any tissue left. Each day i was in hospital they came and did the same to my stomach.

That is not true, in fact, the opposite is true. When you deliver your baby, they press on your stomach in the recovery room to get it to contract and to empty out any clots that may still remain inside. It's pretty nasty, actually, and it hurts a lot!

I have actually heard the opposite. I have even seen some cultures give immediate massages of that area, and some African cultures wrap the area tightly to help it go back into shape.

when I had 3 c-sections the hospital encouraged me to press on my abdomen. it is a natural birth I would imagine it would be the same.

I agree with some other answers on here, the doctor and nurses will sort of "knead" that area of your body occasionally after delivery.
