I am moving to Portland Oregon on Jan. 1st. Is anyone currently living in an apartment complex in Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Gresham, etc.. that you would recommend I check out when I get to Oregon. I am looking for a one bedroom anywhere between $500-$800. Thanks.

I am also moving to Portland, but not until Jan 2008. (We're moving from Pittsburgh. Long trip, I know!)

Anyway, I've found apartments.com and craigslist very helpful. The Portland craigslist might be better, because there are all kinds of listings and not just gated communities. There are all kinds of price ranges, and most have pictures.

Good luck!

Quite often your largest explanations will likely be: 1) how so much are you willing to spend? 2) where do you ought to go/commute? It wouldn't be a lot enjoyable to reside downtown and ought to power out to the suburbs or live in Tualatin and drive to Gresham or anything like that. Certainly in case you have got to take public transportation. The MAX and bus lines are moderately risk-free, but some stations and areas at night are lovely crappy. The Pearl District is generally one of the vital extra pricey places to survive the West Coast. There is still some crime there considering quite a lot of criminals know that's where the money is. It's nonetheless a very high-quality area, but it is surrounded by means of downtown and some ancient industrial areas and parking is pricey and constrained. There are darkish alleys and stuff no longer far from there, too. I suppose if you happen to rented a apartment and had a comfy parking zone, you could have few concerns. Otherwise, you're running to places or walking to seek out your car. I am personally keen on the Sellwood subject, which is interior SE Portland. Most neighborhoods are pleasant and there is a small community believe. It might be tough to find an condo there, in view that there are extra loved ones houses and no more leases. It is close to downtown and tons of things to do. If I might live wherever in Portland, this might be it. I also like the field around Lewis and Clark institution in Southwest. My brother went to college there and lived slightly ways away in a first-rate condominium that used to be full of probably younger, pleasant people. The other areas of SW down alongside Macadam are satisfactory, too.

I live in Portland. Currently, right along the MAX light rail line there are plenty of apartments to rent. The MAX is electric and quiet. I have a condo right by a station and from there I can get to anywhere in town. Come down Burnside, east of highway 205.
