They Choose To Live With Their Dad, So They Are Only at Our House Every Other Weekend, They Are Currently In The Larger Bedroom, But Our 2 Boys Ages 3 and 13 Months Need The Bigger Bedroom Now. I Want To Make The Smaller Bedroom Into The Girls Bedroom Without Making Them Feel Like They Are Being "Pushed" Out.... Any Ideas On How To Make This Small Space Work for Them??

DON'T MOVE THEM OUT OF THEIR ROOM! YOUR BOYS ARE YOUNG ENOUGH TO WAIT FOR THE LARGER SPACE. IN 8 YEARS YOUR YOUNGEST DAUGHTER WILL BE 18 AND PROBABLY NOT DOING SLEEP OVERS AND YOUR ELDEST SON WILL ONLY BE 11. GIRLS NEED MORE SPACE THAN BOYS. AT SOME POINT THE GIRLS WILL PROBABLY TRADE ON THEIR OWN BUT LET THAT BE THEIR CHOICE.

Depending on the Square footage of the room, use two twin beds without headboard and foot board and put them length ways against two walls. Purchase two decorative crowns from Linens and Things or Bed, Bath Beyond and other retailers. Nail the crowns mid way on the ceiling above the beds. Drape sheers from the crown over the both ends of the bed.purchase eight decorative pillows of various sizes for each bed.Use colors that are coordinated. Add accessories. You will have a fun and beautiful r room for 2 preteens. Using the beds as sofas in the day and sleeping areas in the night. The girls will love the cozy effect of chatting underneath the sheers and the comfort of all the pillows.

It's really hard to make two girls at those ages feel anything good. No matter what you do they will think you are pushing them out by giving their room to the boys. Girls are hormonal and will hate you until they are grown and realize how much you really did love them and how hard to tried to make life easier for everyone. It also sounds pretty crowded if you have 4 kids and only two bedrooms between them. You may want to consider a bigger place if possible.

You need to make certain that even if they are sharing a room, they have their own space within the room. You can do this by separating them even if the room is small. Here is a suggestion:

Place two bookcases back to back. Use the book case as headboards for each bed. This gives them their own space and storage.

Paint the room in colors they like. Make it a happy room.

I am a mother of 3 and I don't get that a 13 month old and a 3 yr old need the larger room. Sounds like you are upset that the girls decided to live with dad and you are making them pay for it... oh well... life goes on...

Perhaps trundle beds might work. During the day it can be used as a sofa with pillows and at night you pull up a bed to turn it into 2 beds. The sofa part is one bed and the other that you pull up is parked under the that one during the day.

There are also beds that push up into a wardrobe type arrangment during the day and are pulled down at night, so that the bedroom is bigger during the day without the beds.

Perhaps doing it that way would be time consuming as you will have to clean the floors in order to pull out the beds. It would work it they kept their things put away.

One of those trundle beds would be great, two beds but it can look like a sofa for the daytime with lots of big bolster type pillows.

Maybe a rocker or bean bag chair , they would be a good age for it.

A coordinated 5 by 7 rug and curtains. Maybe a fresh paint job.

Make everything new and about them.

The only thing I could think of was bunk beds.

Do you live near an Ikea? The store has tons of space-saving ideas. If you don't like Ikea, maybe you can get some ideas from its Web site.

Good luck!

Try a bunkbed for them to sleep on. And let be involved in the decorating and personalizing of the space. They won't feel like they're getting pushed out, they'll feel like they're getting a brand new room.

If you make the small room special, they'll love it. Bunkbeds or raise their beds up to put storage underneath. Let them pick the paint colors and buy them matching new bedspreads. Put some neat stuff on the walls and buy them area rugs.

If its pretty, they wont care about the size.

Ther is a "T" shaped bunk bed out that has a desk or a dresser on the end of it (your choice).
And like the others said, "let them help decorate".
